Smoking in restaurants is banned because it exposes others to a carcinogen. Call me when you discover that dogs cause cancer.

I might be mistaken because I haven't checked out the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms lately but I don't remember owning a dog to be considered a right or a freedom.

Laws are their to protect us and don't kill off a species. You want this thing to happen because they wake you up in the morning.

Well, by extension, it could be argued (likely successfully) as a right for at least some people - e.g. those with a disability.

If that was the case wouldn't he also be advocating the ban of alarm clocks too?

All these changes were made to HELP a certain person, not BAN them from civilization.

Sure. And if they catch you, if HOOT is to believed, you'll get a biscuit from the McDonald's drive through and a scratch behind the ears as well!

There are laws that limit noise.

There are laws that limit weapons. (dogs are much like a loaded gun, IMO)

There are laws that dictate where you can crap.

There are laws that dictate where you can piss.

If a human behaved like a dog, he would be thrown in jail. We should apply the same laws to dogs that we apply to humans as far as I'm concerned.

That's true enough but no matter how disgusting, loud, etc. The general public may be, dogs don't seem to mind.

If a human behaved like a dog, he would be thrown in jail. We should apply the same laws to dogs that we apply to humans as far as I'm concerned.
Conversely, if humans were governed by the same rules as a dog, most of us would have been euthanized for non-life threatening violence or repeat violations of fineable offenses. Tough to compare the two.

All of those things you mention above are already punished the same way (fines), except for the dog = gun comparsion, which I'm not even going to touch. Okay, maybe I will a little. By that logic, every single person, many foods, and most animals could easily be considered loaded guns ready to go off. A bag of Planters Peanuts is arguably more dangerous than a regular dog.

Its tough to prove piss/crap violations for both humans and canines, as you have to catch them in the act. Don't forget, when you're Downtown, that's likely not animal excrement you are smelling/seeing.

Ahahahaha, I go watch a movie and come back to find this epic thread!

DESS, the city is considering rezoning the dog park near the airport for commercial development. You should come to the open house sessions and raise your opinions. I'll be there to voice my opinion to keep the entire area (or at least some of it) open to dogs. These are the sessions:

March 4, 2009, 4:30pm-8:00pm
Balzac Community Hall
Highway 566, Balzac

or

March 5, 2009, 4:30pm-8:00pm
Rocky Mountain Rooms A & B,
Radisson Hotel Calgary Airport,
2120 - 16th Ave N.E., Calgary

Put your money where your mouth is big guy.
