On another note...the Packers hired Dom Capers as their new DC yesterday...great move for them IMO.

Yeah, I forgot that. I wasn't excited about Linehan getting the 49er OC job, but to see the job offered to someone after a couple interviews and have them turn it down just makes the organization look bad at a time when there was a hope that things may be on the upswing. 7 OCs in 7 years is NOT a good thing *sigh*.

In that situation the player doesnt have control of the football unless he makes a "football" move so its not considered a fumble. I agree, that call was BS.

Thought this was an interesting article, the Cowboys inner problems may run even deeper than initially thought. Evidently tardiness for meetings was a huge problem throughout the year, and Tony Romo is lazy.

That part of the rule was changed. We're still not arguing a fumble here as it was called incomplete.

As a packer fan, I was happy to get Dom Capers and think thats a great move, but am not so thrilled about the whole process. The Packers don't really feature alot of the pieces for a 3-4 D and they have a GM that isn't exactly a fan of FA. Usually you only make a change when your rebuilding, but they have so many guys on both side of the ball locked up long term.

Overal, I like the move becaue I do prefer the 3-4, but short term this could be very dissapointing.

Because he was holding out for the dream job of any coach, the Detroit Lions OC.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3855314

I wasn't excited about the Schwartz hiring but I do like the two co-ordinators that have been hired. Linehan was a terrible coach (with little to no talent to work with) but he has shown that he is a good co-ordinator.

There is lots of work to do but at least there are a few things to trick a Lions fan into getting his hope up.

Hopefully, Culpepper is gone, but considering he has a history with Linehan I have my doubts that he will be released.

If Schwatz lets Gun do his thing, the D could be scary in a couple years.

49ers have flown in Dan Reeves for an interview.

I'm not sure I like the idea of a guy who has been out of the game so long.

I called this the day Shanahan was fired. Hopefully I did it here so I can publicly gloat and further endear myself to the thread regulars.

Reeves had some very serious health issues when he was with the Falcons. I wonder if he's got his hypertension under control. Seems strange to me that he'd want to get back in at this point.

Great player and a pretty good coach too.

I just read this morning that any rumors about Shanahan are purely speculation.

http://uponfurtherreview.kansascity.com/?q=node/468

NFL.com's Adam Schefter, who used to work in Denver and is about as plugged-in as it gets, writes this on his blog:
  • "As of mid-day Thursday, the Chiefs and Shanahan haven’t had any contact. None. Zero. Zip. Nada. Yet, within the past hour, I’ve received a half-dozen calls and e-mails from various Kansas City and Denver media outlets, asking if there’s any truth to the rumor that the Chiefs and Shanahan are talking. No, there is not. There is no truth to the rumor. Chiefs officials are at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., and Shanahan just finished a morning run on the treadmill."

Apparently he has a pretty close relationship with Singletary.

Absolutely stunned that Shannon Sharpe didn't get in on his first ballot. I don't understand it to be quite honest.

They needed more time to complete his bust because of his gigantic horse face.

Seriously, he's a first ballot guy, no question.
