And don't discount the draw of an arena. I know plenty of sports fans who have a goal of visiting every arena/field/stadium where the league they follow hosts events. There's one on this page. Quality area's are not only a requirement to keep your franchise viable, but they are key in drawing and maintaining talent. Having access to world class game, practice and workout facilities under one roof it is a requirement these days.
Yeah but how many world class cities have:

A brand new $250 million library
A $195 million music centre
A $25 million red pedestrian bridge

Hey we even have a sewage treatment plant with $250k worth of art work.

Of course we are world class, just ask Nenshi, Only a mayor of a world class city could spend $300k of our money fighting a lawsuit.

Scheduled for Demo, so won't be there for long.

They have to their new hub now.

Can we put a moratorium on the word "world class" or "global class" for a while.

Canada likely has maybe 1 or 2 "world class" cities, neither of which are in Alberta.

Great. Now you have either offended Montreal or Vancouver posters seeing Toronto has to be 1.

Toronto is the only sure one. Montreal would be #2 if you want to count it.

I just hope the path to the locker room still cuts through the concourse. It's important to keep these traditions alive.

It looks pretty impressive in person, almost out of place in an otherwise horrible looking downtown.

Too bad such a nice arena, upon opening, will immediately be sullied by the Oilers presence.

Toronto is the epitome of a mediocre city. There is nothing "world class" about it.
It is barely a notch above Cleveland.

I like to slam Toronto as much as anyone but that's simply not true.

LOL stupid Oilers, their arena is going to be a 15 year old piece of crap by the time the Flames get their new one. We'll see who's laughing then now won't we

The masturbatory opening cermony for this thing is going to make the Northlands farewell ceremony look like foreplay. Maybe that poor former Oiler player they mistakenly listed in the deceased portion can zip line in from the rafters.

Not gonna lie, I'm pretty jealous too of the Oilers and their new arena. By the time Flames get their new arena, who knows if guys like Gaudreau and Monahan will even be around anymore. Heck, they might already be in the decline of their careers.

I actually like Toronto, quite a bit actually, but for me it's a notch or two behind both Vancouver and Montreal?
