Thought I would BUMP this thread....

Lady at my work, bought a TV at future shop... 1 week later theves break into her house and take only the TV...

Not saying thats future shops fault or anything, but the lady is convinced they went directly for the TV. They actually passed a "swear jar" of cash on the way to the TV ...

Oh... and they beat up her dog too.....

Moral of the story is, take the long slow route home after making a big purchase from any store....

Or perhaps woman came home with new TV and on garbage/recycle day about oh a week later foolishly put the empty box out for collection. Thief hunts around looking for that type of box, sees it and strikes. Happened an awful lot when the cheapest computers cost 2-3k (or more).

Totally possible... either way, take care what you do when driving home with a big purchase... and disposing of the garbage after, maybe put it in the neighbours garbage

Heh. I always drive around the neighbourhoods of my construction sites to keep tabs on competition and one particular site has a neighbour that has been sporting a 42" plasma box in the garbage since the weekend.
I don't know how this doesn't occur to people. Hell, my uncle bought a whole new system, had it set up, then put all the boxes out back in the garbage. I suggested that perhaps that was a trip to the cardboard recycle bin that he might want to take.
