A new poll shows it is shaping up to be a wild election night in Calgary.

In Calgary, support for the Conservatives stands at 44 per cent among decided voters. The Tories took 52 per cent of the vote in the city in 2004.
Liberal support is at 29 per cent, almost exactly where it was in 2004.
Wildrose Alliance support has jumped to 13 per cent compared to 7 per cent for the Alberta Alliance in 2004.
The Green Party has jumped to 10 per cent compared to 6 per cent in 2004.
The NDP is down to 3 per cent.
This poll was taken February 27 and 28.

Thanks for posting that. I have to admit I was expecting a little higher numbers do to the hype. I voted WRA but 13 percent is not going to get the WRA voted in, it will get the Libs voted in however.

Doubling in a matter of days is significant.

Admittingly though; if there was no change I would be saying; "There is only one poll that counts."

Its good to see IMO.

Even the increase for the Green Party is good to see. Even if I don't agree with all their policies....they have a message that needs to be heard.

Love the fact that the NDP has been reduced to nothing. Well, almost nothing.

13% doesn't sound quite like the results that you had "predicted" to start this thread off though! The NDP has been around that number for decades and they are viewed quite rightly as a fringe party!

I would not be surprised to see a seat or 2 in Calgary go to WRA.

I can see how that would happen, and I know that there is a lot of discontent out there. But seriously that would be a huge coup if a WRA candidate were to beat out the Liberals and the Conservatives in Calgary or Edmonton!

Guess you missed the part where I stated (several times) that it was "in fun" and was speculation. That I deliberately created the outcome showing the WAP as the victor. Primarily to generate discussion; which seems to have worked.

To clarify my statement, since it doesn't actually convey what I was trying to say: I am not going as far as predicting WRA win any particular seat, but I would not be surprised to see them win one of the many seats up for grabs.

I think any voter, especially the small 'c' conservatives out there, hopes that the PC party see the discontent that exists so they can make steps to amend their ways. If they somehow maintain a strong mandate from the province, I personally will want to puke.

Bump

Well, that didn't quite turn out as planned did it?

I'm happy that the fringe right was rejected by Alberta voters.

Because electing another PC majority was the way to go!

It would seem that Albertan's thought so.

Personally, I would have liked to have seen the voters send a bit stronger message to the PC's but I don't think the WRA was the best way to do that.

I do.

The Liberals by themselves wouldn't have been able to take votes away from the PCs....and had the WRA been able to steal a LOT more votes, the Liberals would probably have ended up with more seats.

Albertans saw a party that was infighting, a party that is a fringe party, and they never trusted they could govern.
