Well those are also challenging to the moderators. I don't know if people realize how fast the site has grown. It's tough to keep track of everything these days. But it's not fair to run every noob off the board. Posters who continually do that sort of thing do find themselves either run off the board by the masses or in the sin bin too. But everyone is given ample warning or leeway prior to ending up in the Sin bin.

So if someone is sin binned how do they get back onto the forum? Could Looger contact you guys and ask to get reinstated? Or is he permanently banned? How does the process work?

The problem with Looger IMO wasn't his opinions; it was how he looked at the rest of us as mindless idiots because we didn't agree with his theories. No doubt in my mind the guy was smart, but there's a fine line between being clever and being condescending, and the mods got tired of him crossing it. I enjoyed reading his posts though, as zany as they tended to be.

Thats a private matter. To add to what Resolute_14 said....worked for the Flames as an assistant GM, was disappointed they picked Sutter over him when they axed Button and left the organization. Not really sure what he's up to now. Someone on here must know, haven't seen him do a Dodge commercial for sometime either.

Does our Lanny at least have a chance of coming back?

Pretty sure Lanny and the Flames kissed and made up. I think he is back in the fold.

Jarome Iginla has played really well of late since he's been called a lot less names on CP lately. We may not want to upset the karma.....

Funny I didn't miss Lanny one bit. Didn't even realize he was gone.

MOD EDIT: Removed unnecessary insult, like I said before lets not bash those that can't defend themselves.

When someone is sin binned we make the decision at that time if it's temporary or not.. we have to enter a timeframe (1 day, 1 week, 1 month, forever, or whatever).. and they can see that so if it's temporary they know, if it's permanent they know.

People can always email us to appeal their bans, and in the past we have reconsidered in cases were we may have reacted too quickly, and in other cases where we've given people lots and lots of chances we eventually have to just make it permanent.

The moderation team usually discusses each ban and everyone gets their input, so it's almost never a light decision.

And I'm sure some come back; I've seen a few users recently that are using proxies to hide their real IPs.. and I guess as long as they're changing their ways so they comply with the rules and we never figure it out, well there's not much we can do to catch that.

Unless you get a log from the proxy server.

Probably have better things to do with your time though.

Yeah, unless they're doing something illegal or something it's not worth it. Plus someone smart would use a proxy that didn't keep logs, or TOR, or something.

And really, unless the person is continuing to be a tool, why bother? For the most part, if people are willing to reform their ways, they should be allowed to stay, imo. Most people do not, however, and they quickly get re-banned.

I'm an admin on Wikipedia, and I spent about three weeks blocking one idiot repeatedly because he persisted in the same junk over and over. People out to cause trouble always get caught agian and again.

That's one of the worst things people can do - when we ask them not to post something, or delete something and then they just keep trying to post it over and over again because they don't agree with it.

Really in short - people sometimes need to not taking the Interweb so seriously.
