I was never able to pull off the underage trick at a bar. I didn't even try. I weighed about a hundred pounds when I was seventeen and I looked like I was 12. I was either going to get beat up, laughed at or both, so there wasn't much motivation. I was regularly carded for both booze and cigarettes until I was 30 years old so I had to miss out on that rite of tres-passage.

I had fake ID. The old kind with the sheet of paper and the laminated card. I've also erased and re labeled many a license with stenciling from office depot. Anyone remember scoping out bars yo see if they had black lights at the door?

Before my fake ID we would go to the Kings Horse early, like seven o'clock and hide out because they only had bouncers at the Fox door. Wait long enough and don't attract attention until it gets busy and you're golden.
My erased-and-stencilled fake ID served me well, especially at the casino, but one fateful night on Electric Ave that all changed. Got it confiscated whilst trying to get into the Fox, had to pay the bouncer off just to get it back, then went across the road to Three Cheers where it was once again confiscated unceremoniously. They said it was going on their wall of shame but the next time I was there I did not see it up there. I got the last laugh since I soon turned 18 and they shut down forever.

I borrowed someone's drivers licence and B/C. We kinda looked similar but not really. Took it to a pop shop and got a ALCB card, was golden from then on.

Anyone remember Coconut Joe's on Electric Ave. IIRC they got caught by the ALCB for watering down their drinks.

Then there was Bandito's next door. A good friends sister worked there and often got us free drinks.
