So basically the new Mac slogan should be:
"You're a lazy technophobe? Buy a Mac!!"

Or how about "Do you have a life other than ****ing around with computers? Buy a Mac!"
Seriously, I have many, many better things to do than re-format my hard drive and reinstall windows every few months.

Because you can't write/download non-attnedance scripts that do that for you
But I mean, that would take like, 5-minutes of google searching/reading to learn

Bang on. In one ad, mentioning how the PC was still good at balancing the cheque book and working with spreadsheets (I really bet the "Mom can keep her recipies on the PC too" line from the 80's was likely cut last minute), while Macs were used for doing digital photo albums and videos.
Only if you woke up from your sleep that you've been in since 1990 with an EGA monitor and still spend your time trying to figure out DOS commands, would you fall for that statement.
Are Macs slick? Sure. But for the average user who won't be rendering images from the Hubble telescope, these days, assuming the purchaser does a sniff of research as to what their needs are, a $1500 PC laptop can do as much multimedia, as easily, as a $1500 Mac notebook right out of the box.

There we go..mac users have lives, windows users are dorks who love reinstalling and tweaking operating systems.
I've had my windows laptop for over 3 years and never reinstalled windows. Not sure why you would need to do that every few months. Mac's are cool, we get it. Still not sure why some of you are so sensitive over the computer debate.

and that's just people falling for the marketing from Apple. i've never understood fierce brand loyalty. i switched to Nvidia video cards after using ATI for years because in my opinion they are much better right now. the last 3 or 4 systems i've built i've gone with AMD, though i may switch to Intel because the Core 2 Duo looks like a great chip. and i bought an Xbox 360 after being a big fan of the PS1 and PS2 because frankly the PS3 is a POS. so if Apple did ever bring an advantage over PC's for things that mattered to me i might consider buying one
these companies don't care about you, they only care about your money. so what earns them such unwavering loyalty from some people?

Apple isn't really targetting the business environment, they're targetting home users. They want you to buy a Mac for editing pictures, making movies, listening to music, talking to friends and browsing the Internet...and maybe some work if you have to.

did i misread, or are you actually saying that macs dont get viruses?
LOL

ever stop to think why windows machines get targeted more than macs? um, maybe because the vast majority of people use windows based machines.
oh, and yes, linux gets virus too

I've never had to do anything like that with my PC, nor do I know anyone else who has to do that. Have you considered that maybe the source of the problem isn't the machine?

Yes, you've never had a PC problem...and neither has anyone you know.
That one takes the cake.
Where does the majority of computer store profit come from?
Here's a hint...the markup on computer parts is often close to nothing.

Fair enough. Although I am definitely not a technophobe, I was a careful surfer on my PC, ran virus and spyware checks frequently, defragged my hard drive every so often. I still had tons and tons of problems and whenever I talked to a tech they gave me a list of 46 000 things to do to fix it.
I don't have that kind of time.

thats funny that your put those words into my mouth...
im saying that lots of people DONT have issues, and i am one of them. its ridiculous to think that everyone has to "reformat their hard drives every couple of months" for no good reason. there are reasons and one of them is very likely the person behind it. one of them, not the only one.
and if you are getting your computer serviced at a shop that proves that you dont know anything about your computer and should very likely stay away from the big-bad internet

The tech clearly said that it would take at least 6 hours of my time. I understood everything she said and I didn't want to go through the long process.
So what if I didn't understand what she said? Does everyone in the world need to be in IT? Obviously, in your world.

No computer is safe from viruses, thats true because we as humans and programmers make errors. However some are much safer than others and developers need to consider security when making an operating system.
