Hakan, we probably see eye-to-eye on this one, so I'd say wait until it comes out on video.

If you're not a comic book fan, why would you go see a movie based on a comic book?

Javad Shamqadri, a cultural advisor to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, said it was "plundering Iran's historic past and insulting this civilization".
He branded the film "psychological warfare" against Tehran and its people.
And away we go. Boy these guys are dumb. I don't know what their motivation is, but I'm pretty sure it's not to sell more tickets to 300, and that's all they are going to accomplish with this.
They should have a look at Frank Miller's last movie. They might enjoy the "attack on American civilization" portrayed in that one.

I read the "300" comic book (I mean graphic novel) and was not impressed. I am not a comic book fan but with all the hype this thing has been getting I thought it would be much better. I really enjoyed Sin City so I'm assuming I'll probably really like the movie 300. The comic book, however, was not my cup o' tea. I just thought the dialogue in the book was ridiculous and I have no idea how someone can come to the conclusion that it is a type of novel. I mean, if you add up all the words throughout the entire 5 book series it adds up to maybe two pages of a normal novel. I'm not trashing people that enjoy these kinds of things but it really isn't up my alley.
All that being said, it took all of maybe twenty minutes to read the entire 5 book series so at least it is quick to get through!

You didn't like Batman? I thought it was very well done..
As for 300.. meh. It wasn't bad, but for me it didn't live up to the hype. Talk about being over dramatic :/ Reminded me of King Arthur..

Just saw it. I dunno, I enjoyed aspects of it. I kind of enjoyed it like I would enjoy a video game. Short on depth in the story but has cool graphics and some fun violence. Some parts were ######ed and some parts were fun. There was a lot of yelling and beheading. Good turn off your brain movie.

Basically my expectations of the movie was that it would be 2 hours of stunning visuals, blocked out into 20 mins of story and 100 mins of fighting. What I got was 2 hours of stunning visuals, blocked out into 20 mins of story and 100 mins of fighting. My expectations were met. Awesome movie!
I figure it's all about expectations. Just like Snakes on a Plane. My expectation was to see Samuel L. Jackson fighting snakes on a plane, and that's what I got. Some movies require high expectations, and and some don't. Next on the list: Little Miss Sunshine. Slightly different expectations there heh.

saw it for the second time on Friday night and this time I went and saw it at the IMAX theatre over here in Richmond, unreal. The first time I saw it, it was at a crummy old UBC theatre with crappy sound, but the IMAX surround sound experience made it amazing. It was like watching it for the first time, there were so many little things that I missed the first time. If you liked the movie and have a IMAX theatre near to you, go see it again.

I saw this over the weekend as well. Few things that I came away from it with...
- Iran has to get over themselves. getting mad at hollywood for political slander is pathetic.
- I've never seen so many Abs in my life.
- There better not be a sequal.
The movie was well done, but nothing that will be remembered for a long time to come.
