Thanks guys. I got home from the Hitmen game last night and debated watching it even though it meant missing the first 10 minutes. Last night's was the first episode this season I've watched in SD. (I don't have the HD PVR yet.)

When the screen went back to the main menu I just about freaked. I figured that was likely what happened, but wanted to be sure.

The producers of Lost plan the exit of the show from television in a few seasons . . . from the LA Times today:

I remember the creator of the Sopranos said the same thing of his tv show in their third season. I recall him saying something that it wouldn't go past 5 seasons, saying he didn't want to tell the same story lines over and over again.

If your a fan of the show, you should check out lindelof and cuse's podcast. There is some good insight into the episodes themselves as well as the show.

They have always said that the story is planned and they knew where it was going to end from day 1. They have made changes to the story as things have progressed in terms of the characters ie. Jack was supposed to die in the pilot insted of the plane pilot, but they have enough planned for 5 or 6 seasons. They don't want to be stretching it.

Well, if they run out of stories they could always arrange for another plane to crash.

Who knows. Maybe when they imploded the hatch they caused another plane to crash somewhere else on the island. Maybe one of those passengers was carrying a tape of the 2004 World Series.
