Secret Invasion is just as bad as Civil War. First they were all fighting each other because of politics. Now they fight each other because they don't trust each other to be the actual person they say they are. Just a silly excuse to get more superheroes fighting against each other because of mistrust or hatred in the silly atmosphere that Marvel has created.
The best thing about Civil War and Secret Invasion are the off-world stories like Planet Hulk. They got Hulk off Earth because he'd be too much of a tide-turner on either Civil War side. The Illuminati decide to maroon him on another planet but the ship goes through a wormhole and he ends up in an alien empire ruled like the Roman Empire. He fights his way out of slavery and ends up a gladiator and basically kicking the entire Empire's butt and finds happiness and fullfillment like never could on earth before the shocking ending...which makes him the most angry Hulk has ever been and he returns to Earth to set all the whiny Civil War guys straight and to exact his revenge on the Illuminati, Iron Man, Reed Richards, etc.
That was great because you grew to hate Tony Stark in Civil War and so an enraged Hulk with an alien army comes back to earth to kick his ass for being such a ######bag.
On the other side of the Galaxy - the Annhilation Saga was pretty awesome itself. Thanos is talking with Death and she reveals something wonderful is going to happen - at the big crunch, a dimensional rift, the forces of annhilation are coming into our universe and while all the whiny brats on earth are beating each other up over politics, you learn that the fate of the entire universe is threatened and being fought over in an epic intergalactic war that has everything from Galactus to Silver Surfer to Quasar to the Nova Corps (getting completely wiped out to extinction!) to the Shiar Empire to every cosmic or space based Marvel character. That's what really matters. That series put Civil War into perspective because the guys fighting the Annihilation Saga are like a million times more powerful with more responsibility than any of the "heroes" in Civil War.

What do I do with them? The parents are tired of having those boxes, and I don't have the space in my life here?

Me too! I've tried to go back and read them but there is too many. So I stick to the large crossovers like Secret Wars, Infinity War, Spider-Man/Superman, or Avengers/ JLA

Not much. i was selling them all for $1each at the comic conventions. except for the carnage 1st appearance. Got $3 for that one.
Only thing in comics worth any money anymore is anything older then 50 years old and cgc graded and original art.

As much as a box of Pro-Set hockey cards. The comic bubble burst in the 90s and there isn't much value. $1-$5 for each.

Yeah I certainly wasn't a fan of the One More Day storyline that Yeah Baby mentioned in the other thread because it was just such a disappointment of an ending, but I might give Brand New Day a try if the new clean slate is interesting again.

I think the last good marvel comic I liked was Exiles... before the author changed. That was one good book.

Brutal!!! I collected tons of hockey cards and comics while I was a teen. Now, they're worthless.
Oh well, at least I had fun. Looks like I'll just give them to my son when he grows up. So much for my retirement plan. Looks like I'll have to start pumping more money into my RRSPs

I have a soft spot in my heart for good ol' John Romita Jr.
and I blame Joe Queseda for bringing the new "anime" style into existence. Smart guy, and actually like HIS work, but btwn his timing and technology/fandangled-computers - the result is your beef.

Best bet is E-bay.
X-force #1 is especially worthless because it was an extremely popular book at the time with a huge print. It is now not so popular and everyone has it.

I'm sure the stuff I've got, even if it was worth something, isn't anymore. Leave it to a kid that finds his uncles comic books to treat em well.
Offhand I know I've got:
Secret Wars - first appearance of spidey black suit #6?
Wolverine #1
Moon Knight #1-10 (yeah, worthless, I still think he's cool)
X-men #1 reboot (island of Krakoa)
Bunch of other random stuff, never really cared, just liked having them and reading them.

I bought a collection of comics off someone two years ago that had 50 copies of x-force #1. Ya it is worthless.
My best comic is an Incredible Hulk 181 cgc 9.4. Current value is at 3k usd. Seems like a decent chunk of change, but you'd be surprised how much other comics are going for right now. There is a lot of money in old high grade comics right now. Pretty much anything printed after 1980 is worthless however (generally speaking, there a few that are worth something).

There is a lot of cash in some new comics too. Like the first ten or so issues of "Walking Dead", "Y the last man", and other series that took off and had limited prints at the get go. Even some marvel stuff recently has pretty huge value but they are typically overprinted to begin with so it's rare. Variants from Marvel can get pricey due to the limited prints, this is my favorite from the recent Amazing Spider-man series when Wolverine made a guest appearance...
Had nothing to do with the issue at all but was kinda cool.

Thanks to this thread I have to catch up on comics I haven't read. All the Spider-Man, Superman, Batman, Detective Comics (just learned DC put all the Batman comics on hiatus), Action Comics, Nova, Captain America, and Wolverine that I forgot to download since December. About 50 issues to read on a Saturday morning. Wheee! Oh yeah, can't forget about Thor.
Not that I really like these books but it's something to do.

Bump!
A friend of mine is a comic book artist, and I am sharing this here hoping it gets some notice. His previous work includes DC's Red Robin.
The following is his posted on facebook.
Quote:
JOYRIDE is the accumulation of everything I have wanted to draw as a kid. With the partnership of Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly along with BOOM! studios we’ve come up with a story that brings out the fun and adventure in comics again.
JOYRIDE comes out April 13th but we really need your help with PRE-ORDERING the book with code FEB161214. Tell the world you want this book by pre- ordering through your local comic book store.
Thanks for your help!

There's an ongoing Comic Books thread in the Food/Entertainment subform. Recommend posting it there.
