Road stuff;

Why do people insist on getting over to the left lane as quickly as they can, only to drive at exactly the posted speed limit? The left lane is for passing, not the right. And I don't care if you're making a left turn 17 blocks ahead, the dozen or so cars lined up behind you wish you would get the bleep out of the way until you get closer to your turnoff.

Why do people create rolling road blocks by driving side by side down Deerfoot or Crowchild at the same speed, usually at exactly the posted speed limit? If the guy next to you is going the same speed as you and there's a lineup behind you in the left lane, either get in front of the other guy or get behind. You're probably in his blind spot anyway, so move.

Why can't people merge properly? It's called merging for a reason. There's a difference between merging and yielding. Look up the words and you might figure it out. So if you're in a merge lane, speed up so you're going about the same speed as the lane you're merging into. Makes it much easier than trying to move your 20kph butt into traffic moving 80. And if someone is trying to merge into your lane and you have nobody around you, move over for crying out loud! Give them the lane. Don't speed up to block them. Move over or adjust your position so everybody can keep moving.

Why is it that when you put your turn signal on to indicate a lane change, people close the gap? I've gotten to the point where I don't use the signal anymore because whenever I do, some a-hole speeds up to block me from moving over. So now I signal just after I start the lane change.

Why do pedestrians feel that since they're in a crosswalk, they don't need to walk any quicker than my 90 year old Grandmother? If there are a bunch of cars waiting for you to clear the intersection, pick up the pace a bit!

Why do pedestrians feel they don't need to check for oncoming traffic before stepping out into a crosswalk? What's with the abrupt 90 degree turn with no warning that you're about to step into traffic? Yeah, it's a crosswalk. But if I don't know you're about to use it, how the heck am I supposed to stop in time? Take a second to make sure the guy driving along sees you before stepping in front of him. Make eye contact if you can. And don't keep going across several lanes without looking for cars both ways. Don't assume that because you're in a crosswalk you're invincible. Sometimes the driver just doesn't realize that the crosswalk is being used until it's too late. I can guarantee you that although it's the drivers "fault" for hitting you, it won't make you any less dead. So take a look.

Being near to Boulder, I must say I despise Trustafarians. These are the white kids with dreads, stinking of patchouli, railing on against the government who also just happen to have a bmw and a massively obscene trust fund just waiting for them.

Working with people that are educated, have some experience, but require their hand to be held through absolutely everything they do.

Resurrected to complain about the fingerprints on my patio door. I had a few friends over for the game on saturday and I just noticed that my glass balcony door has a big fat hand print on it assumably from somebody opening or closing it without using the handle. Who does that? I need to reconsider who I'm friends with...

I have friends who still put their face on windows and make faces...
I think the last time I did that I was ten, maybe even 9 and a half.
It's difficult to remove FACE grease from windows.

You're funny.

For the record, handles is where the germs live so I avoid them. Perhaps your friends have the same habits?

I just re-read your post from 2006 about scooters. I have a realy hard time getting my mind around YOU advocating scooter use as anything other than bonus points when you run them over.

Multi-millionaires who don't put in an honest effort at work because they get paid the exact same amount whether they go ballz out or half-ass it anyways. You guys know who I'm talking about.

My pet peeve of the moment, is rec hockey players who don't shake hands at the end of a game.

One of the best things about hockey, in my opinion, is the ability to go hard at another team for a game, then shake hands at the end and say - 'good game'

When there's a posting about someone passing away, and the response is "RIP". Showing respect should not include taking short cuts…type our "Rest In Peace" if you want to say something…it seems insincere.
