[Trade] Flames acquire Brennan Othmann from NYR for Jacob Battaglia

I saw some media, including one Rangers-focused, saying he may be a victim of the Rangers poor development system. I hadn’t even heard that assessment before about them. Hopefully with a change of scenery and some Flames love can give him some confidence to turn things around.

The Rangers absolutely have development issues, just a question of if he's redeemable and I suspect a lot of that will depend on him. Kakko, Lundqvist, Kravtsov, Zac Jones, none of them are particularly very good players once leaving.

I'm liking this trade more after looking into Othmann, seems like his development path was stunted not only due to the Rangers poor development system as others have speculated, but he also looks to me like a player who was a goalscorer in junior who's having to adapt his game to that of a bottom 6 role. Looks like he plays with more of a bite to his game at the pro level, could be a good project to take on.

Based off a couple fight highlights I watched he might need a couple boxing lessons from Lombo lol. But I mean, look at this clip of him dropping the gloves with Deslauriers. He gets his clock absolutely cleaned but that's a brave move to take on Deslauriers of all people!

Funny enough, he said after the game that he didn’t like the hit and instantly shed his mitts. He had no idea it was Deslauriers
