Watching those amazing oiler post game interviews. Such leadership by crysaddle.
If that isn’t a fractured locker room I don’t know what is.
Big difference in leadership in the two organizations. You can tell the Flames are a tight knit group who support each other and the Oilers leaders spend their time sticking knives in teammates backs.
the Oilers leaders spend their time sticking knives in teammates backs.
That would explain why McDavid and Draisaitl are always so slow skating back to the defensive zone. They want a clear view of their teammates targets, and plenty of time to take aim.
Frequently heard on Oilers' bench:
‘Don't worry, I've got your back.’
‘That's just what I'm worried about!’

‘You see in Calgary, [Ryan] Huska is no joke. It’s good. He’s really set on a specific model defensively. If you can be reliable, you have the freedom to play offence.’

Flames win the season series for the first time in 5 seasons. Feels good.
This could be a major turning point with the Oilers McDavid era coming to an end while the Flames are loading up with young talent and have a bright future. Calgary can dominate the BoA for the next decade.

Devin Cooley 4th in the league in goals against average and 1st in the league in save percentage was not on my bingo card this year. He is a likeable guy and his interviews are hilarious. You have to think some teams will sniff around about his availability at trade deadline. I hope he doesn't get moved but you never know.

Flames could play a big role in keeping the Oilers out of the post-season. Flames play the Kings three times, the Ducks three times, and the Kraken once post Olympic break. If I were Conroy I would be trying to make deals with these teams just to #### with the Oilers chances and do everything possible to see the Oilers on the outside looking in.

In a column early during the 2023-24 season, Saad Yousuf of The Athletic broke down all the Stars players’ nicknames and how they got them. It turns out Hanley’s nickname was nothing more than a reminder that his name isn’t Joe.
“One of the assistant coaches in the Rick Bowness regime was Derek Laxdal, who ran the power play,” Yousuf wrote. “Joe Pavelski was a player Laxdal interacted with more than Hanley. Because of the first three letters of Hanley’s first name, players would joke and say that Hanley was ‘not Joe.'”
Though the Flames have been referring to Hanley as “Nacho” for a good portion of the 2024-25 season, it hasn’t seemed to fully catch on with the fan base just yet. With this story resurfacing on X the last few days, however, you can expect to hear many more Calgarians refer to the blue liner as “Nacho” going forward.
