If the rosters for the OHL are frozen, would that not imply that it opens him up to being sent the AHL now? Either way Saginaw season will be over mid March, so even if Parekh has to stay up in the NHL after his conditioning stint, he should be eligible to go down mid March worst case.

Parekh is on the roster list for Saginaw still, and yeah the rosters are frozen but until their season is done in NHL or CHL for him. Truly think the Flames should start pushing players on the bubble in this situation to go the College route.

The timing screwed the Flames on this one because no one saw the NCAA changing things so quickly that off season. Had he been not signed at the camp a week after he drafted, which don't get me wrong at the time was to right PR thing to do, he would have been eligible to go to the NCAA. Catton in Seattle is going through the same thing.

It doesn't help Parekh this year that next year they will have an exception rule for CHL players and the AHL. So this year it looks like he plays here and does that conditioning stint and then plays the NHL until mid March when he can finally be sent to the wranglers. They'll have around 10 games left plus the playoffs.

Didn’t he already go and get a degree at U of T from graduating early? Does limit options with graduate programmes at some schools

Parekh graduated High School early then took online courses through the University of Toronto, he's obviously a bright and hard working kid but no he doesn't have an undergrad degree. That would be insanely impressive considering how much time he's put into hockey as well.
