AND Gridin! Plus other stuff but those two pieces alone make it a home run deal.

Don't forget about the 4th.

The conditional fourth-round pick they received from the Canucks ended up being 107th overall and they flipped it to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for the 150th pick, which they used to select Luke Misa, and the 170th pick, which they used to take Hunter Laing.

love that trade tree

He made about a half dozen elite short distance, offence generating passes.
Can't teach that.

Not expecting this kind of production because those would be unfair expectations but he gives me rookie Adam Fox vibes. Similar size, not elite skating but fantastic processing and puck movement. Isn't taking the top off defenses but making the right reads at the right times. What really jumped out at me last night were the small area skill plays, lots of savvy passes and movement.
Really excited about this player.

That is an impressive trade tree
Once we move Andersson this year we will see that Sven Baertschi trade tree grow.

I don't think it's a crazy comparison. In their draft years, Fox's NHLe was 24 and Bruz' was 22. They've developed differently since then. Fox's first full NHL year was at the age of 21 so he's ahead of Bru in that regard by a year. But, the way he played last night, it's going to be tough to send him down at the moment. Not suggesting a Fox caliber player should be expected, but I certainly understand the comparison. Bru was really noticeable last night in a very good way.

First pass is such an underrated skill from a defenceman. Do that right and the whole live works way better. Do it wrong and you are hemming in with your forwards up ice.

I was pretty sure we had an NHL’r in Brewski but i still had major concerns about our defensive depth. Both solo and Kuz i had expectations for but approaching mid twenties it seemed like it might not happen. Solo is claimed, Poirier has disappointed and injured, Kuz doesnt make the team out if camp.
Having Kuz look like he has solidified a spot, a good showing from Bru gives me a lot more hope.

I think between Bahl, Weegar, Parekh, Kuz, Brzus and Mews you have your d-core for the next 5 years.
The D (including talent-wise) isn't much of a concern. Now the top six.. that's a different story. We have third liners for days, but need some genuine forward talent that can translate their gane to the nhl.
Coronato is one. There's still an outside chance for Zary but he's trending towards depth piece.
Gridin, Reschny and Potter are probably our best hopes for that in the prospect ranks.
And Wyttenbach is a darkhorse for me.

Wait until they add 29 year old Cale Makar to that group of Dmen.

Maybe that "defence wins cups" mantra that some posters have trotted out would actually bear fruit.
I don't think D alone without elite forwards can win, but that hypothetical D-core would give me pause.
We used to scold the Flames for always putting the puck back to the blue line. If that came to be it would become a winning strategy.
Can you imagine though.. Makar, Parekh, Brzus and Mews? All guys that decimated their teen leagues and set records, running over the competition.
