Naw, ME is just waiting for the City to pay for most of the cost of rocket fuel.

So Craig and his two assistants all each report directly to Don, instead of the AGMs reporting to the GM and the GM reporting to the PoHO. That's even less autonomy than I thought Craig had in the first place.

good catch, I had assumed before Craig was also a VP

No.
In the Flames' hierarchy the GM outranks VPs, for some reason. It was the same with Treliving. He was Maloney's boss even though Maloney was VP of HO.

This should be obvious enough since Pascall and Nonis are also AGMs.

We have no idea if Edwards is good or bad as his other companies. You can be a meddling doofus and still succeed as a hockey owner and a business owner.

To me the litmus test is Kadri. You can say you need a centre or want to insulate the kids or whatever, but honestly - this season or next doesn't matter. You are basically looking towards 27-28 and what is best for that team when you may no longer suck (although probably will still suck).
If Coranato, Zary and whichever other young guys they call up can't recover from getting beaten down this year, I highly doubt they'd be a piece of the next good Flames team because Kadri is around for a few months.

Another example of the meddling ownership forcing a prolonged rebuild on the fan base. Have to wonder if Craig has any autonomy.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Statement from President Donald J. Trump
On the Terrible Situation with the Calgary Flames Hockey Organization
Calgary, Alberta — A once-great hockey franchise, the CALGARY FLAMES, has fallen on very, very hard times — and the reason is simple: incompetent leadership from “Dumb Dumb” Don Maloney and “Middle Man” Murray Edwards. Everyone is saying it.
Today, we learned that the team has extended the POHO — a move that can only be described as a COMPLETE AND TOTAL FAILURE OF MANAGEMENT. Don Maloney, who couldn’t win in Arizona (nobody could!), is now getting rewarded for years of mediocrity in Calgary. He’s been failing longer than the Saddledome roof has been leaking!
Meanwhile, Murray “Middle Man” Edwards — who has personally overseen more wasted seasons than anyone in hockey history — continues to hide in boardrooms, pretending to know what a “winning” is. He refuses to rebuild, refuses to win. The man treats playoff rounds like tax deductions — he hasn’t claimed one in years!
President Trump has long said: Hire the right people and let them do tremendous things. Craig Conroy is that person. A strong, good-looking hockey man — people respect him, players love him, fans adore him. He deserves full control to rebuild through the BIG, BEAUTIFUL DRAFT — not to be handcuffed by Dumb Dumb Don’s losing strategies.
It’s time for the Flames to stop the endless cycle of excuses and bring back what fans truly deserve — WINNING. The people of Calgary have been loyal for far too long. They deserve a team that plays hard, scores often, and doesn’t fold like a cheap tent in November.
MAKE THE FLAMES GREAT AGAIN!

TEAM TRUMP 2025
Fighting for Hockey. Fighting for Calgary. Fighting for WINNING.

This is fine. Have a feeling Maloney is part of a greater succession plan and he seems to have hired well. We’ve had identified talent and at this point will be sellers. Just going to breathe.

Selfishly, I like Nonis because it means that Dreger will keep getting reliable scoops regarding the Flames.
Is this even good for the team? No, but it's entertaining.
