And that wouldn’t be a Flames pairing once the seasons starts anyway, at least not in 2025. So who cares if they were bad together last night? They’ll get shelter from another D if they play in Oct for the Flames.

Kuznetsov is a 2nd round pick from five years ago, and while I like he's game he's never really made a strong push for a roster spot at any point. Every team has one of these guys at the moment.

Between Solo and Kuz, one could make an argument that they are fairly similar players at this point, but I really see Solovyov having more ability and poise with the puck, a better impact in the offensive zone, and more physicality. I just think Solo makes more of an impression in games, while Kuznetsov prefers to stay more low-event. I think Solo moves a little faster, as well.

Solo and Kuznetsov looked like they worked well together last night. It'd be interesting to see them together as a bottom pairing in the NHL

re:funkhouser
In principle I agree.
"But the ‘rush’ is related to asset management and prospect development.
Both Solo and Kuz, and likely Morton, are unlikely to gain anything further from the AHL based on their experience and age. Being at the NHL level, getting into 50%+ of the games, and practicing full time is more likely to positively impact their development (at this stage) than the AHL.
As for asset management, these players are at risk to be taken by another team for nothing. Conroy should be asking himself (1) when is this team aiming to be competitive? From what we have heard, 2-3 years. Next question: (2) in 2-3 years, which player is more likely to be a positive contributor to the team?
If he is being honest, he should be prioritising the player with the higher ceiling and contractual obligation to be in Calgary. I can guarantee that Bean, Kirkland and Miro will not be here in 2 seasons, so why prioritise them? Especially if the skill difference between them and the prospects is negligible?"
I see where you're coming from and I don't entirely disagree. But what about the development of the other players. Having guys defending who are barely NHLers is better than having guys who are not. Right? What about the knock on effects of training young forwards to help Dmen who can't do their job because they have a high ceiling? Or having forwards miss the outlet pass because of the best chance defenceman. There has to be a line. It seems that our team has drawn it. I respect your opinion, but I think there are more moving parts.
Also I couldn't quote on Firefox?

No amount of hyperbole is going to make the Bean is a disaster stuff true.
He's a decent 6-7 guy that tends to keep bad things from happening when he's on the ice.
He makes mistakes with the puck because he's not strong offensively.
I'm good with a young guy beating him out, and would join you in thinking better to sacrifice Bean than lose a young guy on waivers, but enough with the daily dump on the player that is pretty solid in a depth role at the NHL level.
