Super refreshing to see a bunch of guys who genuinely want to be here and win.
No ego’s, nobody feeling sorry for themselves.
Could end being one of those years where dedication and hardwork pay off for the team slated to be bottom 3.

I can echo what diss said, Huberdeau came into camp with a giant chip on his shoulder. He wants to prove to this city more than ever that he can lead this team on and off the ice and get back to his point producing ways. He could have easily folded and said he’d rather not be part of a rebuild, but he put in a fantastic summer training specifically on skating and looks good through 2.

Fun to watch 21 guys play for each other every night and not have a handful of guys mentally checked out because they don’t want to be here.

Winning is fun.

Honzek had some excellent chances on a late PP in the 2nd(?), and Huderdeau is skating well.

Some of you guys need to get over your pre season biases. Flames were the better team in both games. They can clean it up a bit but the Flyers gave up more HD chances.
According to Bingo, Calgary only had 41% of the expected goals in the first game. So it's debatable they were better in the first game.

But I hate looking at the advanced stats based on one game. After 10-120 games, they'll give a you a better idea of how they are playing.

Missed the game, but caught the highlights this morning. Amazing result! Who would've thought the Flames would start 2-0? Take it to the Oilers tonight and it'll be a perfect weekend!

What a difference in net. Wolf makes the easy saves and looks calm and cool. Vladar is erratic.

It certainly makes you wonder if Conroy cut bait with the right people… I loved Lindholm’s tenure here, but it did seem like he wasn’t himself since Johnny and Tkachuk left. Hanifin involved his agent, which is unfortunate. And Zadorov, although had good intentions, didn’t seem very happy that we didn’t want to offer a big contract given the state of our team. Don’t think anyone hated Tanev.

It is definitely fun watching the current team right now. Lots of potential and I am here for it.

From the ATL (thanks Gaskal)…

Unwashed: Swap skinner and nuge.

My morning after the night before first thought was that the tenderness can’t be an nhl goalie.

ON thread. Hard work and effort feeds the fans…and the fans feed the team…rinse and repeat.

I’m not naive…but 82-0 does remain mathematically possible.

Today, we get Florida pick 10th overall and nj at 29th overall, while giving habs 26th. Flames also finish pacific 2nd and play ducks in the first round. I’m okay with this outcome.

It's certainly not a good indication for the season (or the team), but it's a good indicator for the game itself.

If you only get 40% of the expected goals, you are clearly on the wrong side of things.

Kuzmenko the goal scorer with a quiet 4 assists to start the season. I like his vision.

I really like the relentless work ethic of this team, and its great seeing JH looking so happy with a strong start, and the goaltending has been good.

I am a bit worried about defensive coverage to be honest, that needs to tighten up.

Here's hoping they can continue it against a upset underachieving Oilers team.

Please don't give them the win.

I've said in the past in tight around the net Kuzmenko is very similar to Matthew Tkachuck. Quick hands and can put those passes in tight lanes on the blade. On the PP when he has time and space he's been pretty effective for about 20 games now. Hopefully he can keep producing on the PP.

People seem to dismiss PP guys for the playoffs. But in recent years it seems like taking advantage of PP opportunities is becoming important because teams do play each other tight at even strength.

Yup. Was robbed last night.

Hope he keeps doing what he's doing because he will break though.

Edmonton's horrid goaltending will provide a great opportunity for that!
