Holy #### dude get on with your life...I think Forsling the #1 dman in the most recent playoffs and on the most recent cup winner is a top 10 D right now...you dont.
When the debate is lost slander becomes the tool of the loser
You wanted a debate, you got one. Do it you highly regarded poster.

I saw the post about how in a one year snapshot that Forsling finished 9th in Norris voting. Now one set of data points means incredibly little, that shows little to no context or consistency to produce the same results. Forsling has been an NHL defender since 2020/2021, so a 4 year snapshot will provide the most info available to us at this time. I included the eventual Norris winner as well as the closest comparables to the lofty 85 vote points set by Forsling. Youll see below are the splits of NHL vote points as found on:
2021 - Adam Fox (743) Norris Winner
2021 - Darnell Nurse (76) LOL
2021 - Mackenzie Weegar (74)
2021 - Gustav Forsling (0)
2022 - Cale Makar (1631) Norris Winner
2022 - Adam Fox (248)
2022 - Aaron Ekblad (74)
2022 - The corpse of Kris Letang (73)
2022 - Gustav Forsling (0)
2023 - Erik Karlsson (1585) Norris winner
2023 - Quinn Hughes (101)
2023 - The borderline octogenarian Brent Burns (41)
2023 - Gustav Forsling (Ill let you fill in the blank here champ, use your favourite crayon)
2024 - Quinn Hughes (1861) Norris winner
2024 - Josh Morrissey (166)
2024 - Noah Dobson (95)
2024 - Gustav Forsling (85 whoohoo we're on the board!!)
Now this is only the year to year point totals, I dont care enough to go through and find the cumulative vote point totals over this time frame but that would all prove further to how dumb your point is. Forsling, over his career, has been a passable and young defenceman with some talent. He is not some world beating game changer.
With all this said, I do think he is a very good defenceman, but as of right now he is no star and the Norris voting over his career is on my side.

Okay well not only did Forsling get Norris votes in the MOST RECENT SEASON he also had 8 Conn Smythe votes. Bouchard was the only other D who got any and he got ONE from an Oiler homer.
He was voted top 10 in the regular season and #1D in the postseason.
Going back to 2021 is irrelevant when discussing who are the top dmen at the moment. I mean Huberdeau was the #2 scorer in the league ahead of Matthews, Drai, Marner, ect. ect.
things change.
Forsling hasn't been very well known playing under the radar in Florida and being a late bloomer...when the entire hockey world saw him on the big stage last spring he dominated and it showed. Third place for playoff MVP behind only McDavid and Barkov. IMO you will be seeing his name in these convos more and more.
Besides Norris voting is heavily skewed towards offence, I will take the playoff MVP anyday. EK won a recent norris FFS.
notice how I didn't try to insult you to make my point about MY opinion.

You provided no statistics and no references in this debate you yearned for, there is nothing to reference other than your very regarded opinion. Of course you wouldn’t insult a better sourced argument than yours. That would make you look stupid and I’d hate to see you sell yourself that way. Lol. Sit down and take the L.

How is him being +56, getting norris votes, and finishing 3rd behind McDavid and Barkov (top dman) for playoff MVP no statistics or references?
He is also the #1D on the team that won the cup and the only D to shut down McDrai.
Some of us watch hockey outside of Sportsnet and TSN propaganda and some of us don't and it shows.
Best plus/minus in the league by TEN points last season, hows that for a stat!...and before you say "team stat" the only other Panther on the list is Barkov in 10th
I think Jaccob Slavin is a top 6-8 defenseman in the world, and I have practically no way of backing this up - it's pretty much just based on what I've seen.
That's part of the beauty of defensemen, especially those who are more defensive in nature.

I’ve shown how his Norris votes put him in the inconsequential bin over his career, plus minus is a team based stat and not reflective of an individuals talent.
You also seem to think that he was the sole individual who shut down McDrai and not a team defence strategy. Prove it, with regards

Like I said he was #1 in the league, 10 points ahead of number 2. Barkov is his only teammate in the top 10 and he was 10th. Him being far better than anyone else on his team should be reflective of his individual talent.
"Over his career" I have already acknowledged he is a late bloomer and has been under the radar in Florida. Also, give me the guy who does it in the playoffs...playoff MVP for Dmen and it wasn't even close. I don't even like the Panthers at all its just the guy is criminally under rated....for now
"inconsequential bin" now you are being ridiculous
yeah only the #1 dman on the #1 team in the NHL and #3 in playoff MVP voting in a year with historical playoff performances

Wait so you think he’s under rated but a top 5 or top 10 d man? For now…
The ellipses are a testament to how much I regard you lol… for now.
