Flames have multiple 1sts in the next two drafts. The one pick we are talking about isn't the Flames own pick it's one they acquired.
Taking a shot on Askarov is totally with the parameters of drafting a player in the Devil's range. I don't see it as any different as drafting a player with an extra pick. You're just increasing your odds of finding a young keeper goalie who'll be hitting his stride when it's time to get out of the rebuild.
Wolf/Askarov is better odds than just Wolf
There's no added risk spending one of those extra picks on a top tier prospect
