Wolf and Vladar would have to play well above expectations for the Flames to make the playoffs.

Kind of like the Ramos / Hiller tandem we had a while back.

Woah there! Tire fires are usually planned and controlled, our blueline is more akin to an unplanned Dumpster Fire.

We have Rasmus and Weegar and...I think Jake Bean comes in at 3rd.

And unless someone from the Former Soviet Union and its satellite states puts something together? Thats about it.

Wolf and Vladar are going to be seeing more rubber than a Vietnamese hooker during the fall of Saigon.

So, let's leave the discussion about whether it is a good thing or bad thing to make the playoffs, and just focus on what would need to happen for the Flames to make the playoffs next year?

It's tough to say what is number one of the list, but...

1) Dustin Wolf breaks out as a true legit number 1 goalie and is at least in the Vezina talk all year long
2) Huberdeau fully bounces back and has a 90+p season
3) Kuzmenko finds chemistry on the power play and puts up 40g 80+p
4) Two of Bahl, Miromanov, or Bean firmly cement themselves as top 4 defensemen with one taking over top PP duties
5) Andersson bounces back and puts up 20/20 while shutting down top lines
5) Kadri, Weeger, Sharagovich all carry on their strong play from last year
6) Zary shows progression and take over as C2
7) Coronato breaks out and scores 25
8) A surprise prospect (Stromgren?) makes the team out of camp and plays 15 minutes of strong hockey per night

What else would need to happen? Would that be enough?
Shameless bump of my own thread..

Apparently all we needed for this to happen was for number 1 to happen.
Although 6 & 7 are still possible.

All of your predictions coming true, likely would make the Flames contenders, as opposed to possibly squeaking into the playoffs.

If Huberdeau was a 90+ point player, the Flames have another ppg forward in Kuzmenko (or whoever else), and a couple of other 25-30 goal forwards, that likely makes all the difference in the world for this team. Instead of being near the bottom in goals for, they are in the top 10 and have 5+ more wins, or so, putting them near the top of the league.

Which is exactly what I said on page 1 of the thread.
