I think Scotiabank has first dips in naming rights for the new arena as part of the sponsoring agreement with the Saddledome. So it will be some generic name like Scotiabank Place...

What a great job the Flames have done swindling the public into believing it is a community arena and not the Flames/Hitmen/Wranglers/eventual women's team, etc practice rink FIRST before any pleb gets to set a skate on the ice

They should try going for alliteration like 'Scotiabank Skate Centre.'

Since it's mostly because of the UCP...
The Danielle Smith Bus Boob Bowl.
Rename the Ed Whalen and Peter Maher broadcast booths into the UCP War Room 1 & 2.
Game at 7pm tomorrow night at the BBB.

Right. Greedy jerks, kicking all the kids off the ice on weekdays at 10 am.
If you’re really mad, why don’t you start a petition for KD Lang to open the venue & sing the national anthem at the 1st Flames game?

The good news is the beer may be 30 bucks, but pop will be 25. So just drink that beer.

It really makes sense. Maximize time watching and buying concessions. Minimize bathroom time.

I know it sounds ridiculous and pedantic, but you are 100% correct.

Washrooms don't generate revenue, but they do accomplish two things: they improve the experience (hopefully improving attendance), and they free up time for people to hit the concessions.
I always found at Glendale, that, after taking only a few minutes to go to the washroom, there was lots of time left in the intermission to think: well, might as well grab a drink and a snack.

I wonder if the shovel CSEC is going to have to purchase just prior to doing the sod turning in going to be an approx. $8MM 'Climate Mitigating' shovel?

Mini-screens mounted in washroom stalls to follow the on-ice action.

There was a pizza joint called "The Place" in Bowness. Maybe still there?
We had lots of "who's on first" jokes about that.

I think we should all just keep referring to the new arena - regardless of sponsor or building name - as ‘the dome’.

Maybe they'll try something forced retro/fake classy.
Ye Olde Scotiabanke Rinke
or foreign
El Rincon de Scotiabank (especially as I've seen Scotiabank in the Latin American countries I've been to)

I hope we one up Edmonton and our building looks and functions uniquely.
Id love it if it looked like the YMCA in Rocky Ridge . GEC architecture has built IMO some pretty impressive things in Calgary and the Y ia one of them.
