If the Flames traded Kadri, they would likely be trading while the asset's value is at a relative high. They would also get something back for Kadri, a player they got for free (excluding the Monahan deal). Plus, if Kadri were to be traded away, the Flames would likely take back other contracts. They could potentially get even more value there.

Kadri would get 5x$7M if he were UFA today - if they’re getting a haul for him with no retention, fire away.

I think it was diss who said it, but Kadri loves Calgary and moved a large chunk of his family out here. I know he’s a Toronto boy, but I’m not sure he’s begging to be moved especially with his NMC.

Sign some short-term UFA deals that can be flipped and rip this MFer down to the studs. The Flames are going to be dreadful with or without their veterans, and there are several guys that deserve better who still have value.
Sadly I think we are stuck with Huberdeau unless the next CBA comes with a round of compliance buyouts.

And that indicates other teams may not think his contract is as bad as some posters think. Or they think they could get Kadri for cheap.

I like Naz and kinda hope he doesn't move unless Connie's socks are knocked off.

Kadri and Weegar are the 2 veterans signed to big term that likely could be moved for positive value based on their seasons and playing style. I just don’t think the Flames need to rush to trade either especially if there is retention required but if the price is met then let’s go!
|
I doubt there is a need for retention.
Karri’s last 3 seasons were 75, 56, 87 points and he makes 7 million
Teams could sign Reinhart for free on the open market, his last 3 seasons were 94, 67, 82. But he will cost a lot more in terms of money and term than Kadri will.
Either player is probably going to deliver similar results over the next 3 years with maybe a slight edge to Reinhart. No team that would be trading for Kadri is overly concerned with year 5 of the contract and given Conroy’s laser focus on rebuilding it would make no sense to tie up two retention spots before the season even starts.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if Edwards has told Conroy to shed cap. If we are "retooling" you are not spending to the cap or close to.

Kadri's age 34-36 seasons should be similar to Reinhart's 29-31? Based on what?

no no no no, Connie is telling Murrary that we're going to stay competitive and push for a playoff spot. His media comments are about gaslighting his boss, so he can do whatever he wants.
Kind of like Ira Steven Behr and Rick Berman.

Some posters are just silly with their hatred of real insiders.
Pagnotta has 120k followers on Twitter but some anonymous CPers are more connected than him?

Eklund has 121K followers, are you backing him too?

I asked if he ever broke anything. Why is it ok for people to ask that question about CP people who share but not a guy from another site? Also, were you not the guy who repeatedly came after me for supposedly posting false rumours? You can't have it both ways.

If the goal is to rebuild through the draft and give young players on ELCs a chance to prove themselves, then Edwards doesn't need to say anything. Teams that do that don't spend to the cap ceiling anyway.
