What a post.
Lots of folks who should be ashamed.

Barkov....then I'm lost who the rest are on your list.
Bobrovsky?

lol really?
Barkov, Bob, Forsling for sure.
Bob had a tough 3 games in the final but he was their MVP, I guarantee he was runner up to the Conn Smythe. Forsling might be the best shut down D in the NHL
Reinhart and Tkachuk are a tossup for 4 and 5
Being the 4th best player on a cup winner is not a knock but the Flames weren't winning a cup with Tkachuk as their best player, especially if they faced the Oilers.

It was Barkov. Bobrovsky didn't make Top 3. https://www.thephwa.com/2024/06/25/e...trophy-winner/

Empty words. He was a ghost for us against the same team, our biggest rival. Should be "I couldn't let Edmonton win, again"

It is kind of weird that in a Florida/Edmonton final, Draisaitl and Tkachuk got zero votes combined. But neither of them were very good in the Finals.

This little nod to Calgary pissed off so many Oilers fans. Took a look at their reddit page and they are absolutely seething. It’s glorious.
Thank you MT

That is pretty crazy actually, Florida is good with that trade off though

Matthew is a master manipulator. He tells fans and media exactly what they want to hear and sells it well. I think he enjoyed his days in Calgary but his plan was always to leave for greener pastures as he played chess with Treliving who thought they were playing a friendly game of checkers in getting exactly what he wanted and planned from the day he was drafted to a Canadian team. I don't hold it against him. If I was an American I would probably do the exact same thing.
The one thing I will hold against him is that he's played pretty small against the Oilers and in the playoffs in general outside of last season. Guys like Bennett (played 5 less games) and Rodriguez scored more goals in this playoffs for the Panthers so it's not like he willed the team to the cup. It was a team effort with some heroics from Bob and Barkov but when the Panthers really needed Tkachuk to step up in the finals, he really couldn't and that was kind of his story in Calgary. Still an excellent player that now has his name on the cup and loves where he's playing so you can't really argue with any way he's handled his career and his issues against the Oilers are a minor thing playing in different conferences.

Treliving should have managed the cap better and signed him long term when he had the chance. He had no problem giving Huberdeau 10.5 after never playing a game for the team but penny pinched his RFA’s. Maybe MT wanted to leave but as a small market Canadian team you have to pay and extend your stars to long term deals when you have the opportunity. It’s Trelivings fault, MT made the correct decision for his career. Flames made poor short term moves that had long term consequences. Hopefully they have learned from these mistakes

GOAT!

I think people are missing that Tkachuk changed his game this year. He's always been a solid 200 foot guy, but this year he committed to staying out of the box and focusing on shutting guys down. Still the same possession monster, just laser focused on doing whatever the team needed him to do to win the cup.
Lets not forget how much of an impact Chucky has had on the team itself too. Other ways to impact a win than just putting up points.
