Until the 88th minute, we had a chance to take something from the game. That's something about which we can be pleased. It was an exciting match and I found it worth staying up late.

What annoys me about the whole var review of the foul is that it wasn’t even called a foul in the first place. Likely holy hell, it was obvious it was a foul, just not obvious it was a penalty kick. Probably wasn’t a penalty kick, but canad a deserved the ball there but no and soon after Argentina gets their goal. Those are big moments in soccer.

The other, which didn’t affect the game as much is a bit later is Argentina hails down a Canadian from behind on a pretty good run. No yellow card. Minutes later same scenario reversed and a yellow card for Canada.

The deference in soccer to the more prestigious squad in terms of reffing is nauseating.

Honestly. I thought that was going to be worse. I think Canada acquitted themselves quite well all things considered.

It was cowardly refereeing all night with indecisive calls on Argentina on even goal kicks and corners...he seemed intimidated. But as Kilbane said post game, the VAR is a crutch for refs in that situation. If it was a penalty, refs prefer to let VAR sort it out then being the bad guy and calling the penalty, rather than calling it himself and having VAR overrule them if it wasn't one.

He was scared to call a penalty and I think I the ref did think it was a foul and in the box, because he has the whistle to his lips...but again, knew Var would buzz if it was one so he just had to wait it out.

Other play you're taking about if the clear foul (and yellow) against Shefffleberg. Directly after that non call they played it long to Messi who had one of his breakaways which Crapeau did fantastic on.

Is the scoreless draw the best result for Canada?

We still have to score a goal. And continue to play disciplined…it’s almost easier against those top teams because they are more familiar with players and tactics and you play with a bit of fear so are extra careful. Peru and and Chile have talent, just less well known, and Canada can’t have a let down.

But yes, a good result. I think Argentina had their warmup vs Canada and now them beating one or both of those teams by more than 2 is moderately likely…meaning Canada needs still a win but hasn’t lost any ground on the tiebreaker.

David just needs to sort it out. We know he can score, and he can score buckets for Canada. He's just in a brutal funk right now.

Why is the coach sitting on a water-cooler? He knows he gets a chair right?

Big game today....need a result.

It is SO important that Canada gets some confidence in this tournament by getting through the group stage. They need to experience some level of success in tournament format as they head into 2026.

A potentially underrated bonus for Canada in their next two matches are they are both at MLS specific stadiums on real grass and Canada won’t have to deal with the disastrous grass at the NFL stadiums

Especially now that these are games where Canada should be considered on equal footing and can hopefully dictate play somewhat
