Ya every first round pick takes at least 5 years of extra development before making the show. /s

That's a good haul.
I would of easily moved Kadri for that

That 26 Vegas pick will be in the 20s again for sure. But I understand people getting excited over a sliver of hope, no matter how small it might be

I am not saying I like it.. it should be changed.
But yes, the rules are the same. Which NHL team doesn't have big money players? Others can take advantage of it too.. hockey players are always banged up.

Terrible trade for Vegas, what a significant overpay.
Just get it done in the playoffs, and let the sucking begin next year.

What the actual holy hell. Hertl is a first line monster, with a lot of term.

Best case scenario.

Technically the best case scenario is probably if the Knights miss the playoffs and the Flames block the oiler and canucks.

Apologies for my ignorance - can someone please explain the difference between the 2025 and the 2026 first round picks here? Does protected v unprotected have anything to do with the draft lottery? Thanks.

A little jealous about them getting Edstrom. Hope Miro works out.

This is too good.
Piss off Oiler fans - check
Better chances 3rd turns in to a 2nd - check
Unprotected 1st and a bullet for Mckenna - check

More often then not they do.
Unless we're drafting a Mcdavid
E.g. zary is 4 years from draft

Not just old. Almost every single top guy is seriously injury prone - which has almost been an asset until this point while they had assets to trade and exceed the cap - but they are looking very rickety:
Eichel, Stone, Hertl, Theodore (who is UFA in 25) - all major and recurring injury issues.
Pietro will be 36. Draft capital will be completely depleted.
This is a big win for Calgary.

This is a tidy bit of work on the Sharks' part too. Nice return!
