Kuzmenko would be a placeholder and likely flipped by the deadline next year. The plan could be to get his value up, then sell high.
If the potential high returns for Lindholm are not there, then it makes sense.

Not sure the flames could take Kuzmenko and still retain full 50% on Lindholm, they do not have the cap space.
 |
Capfriendlys trade machine approved the trade with Lindy full retention.

The Canucks basically replace his cap hit with Lindholm’s, a far more valuable piece which means they will be paying handsomely to do so.

Hopefully they mean "additional" picks and prospects.

Can the Flames retain AND take Kuzmenko?

He's $5.5 AAV

There’s probably like 1 player in the league who’d want to be here.

Not a fan of Kuzmenko, but if it comes with a first and a prospect like Lekkerimaki or Brzustewicz, it’s worth it.

I do worry that the Flames see Kuzmenko as having positive value...39 goals last year!

I think the Kuzmenko addition to the deal likely impacts the quality of prospect coming back. As a cap dump. He doesn't have a ton of value for his output this year.
