She has finished her knife! She spent roughly 10 hours over the last 2 days making it. She pretty much arrived on the first day to a block of metal, and now has a knife that she's already using to chop up supper. She had so much fun that she wants to look at smithing other things. I may have created a monster.

The blade is 7.5" long, and the overall length is 12".

I just wanted to follow up on this. If anyone is looking for a new fun experience I highly recommend glass blowing. We went last weekend to Fascapple and we had a blast. The people there were very friendly and helpful. Between the two of us we made 9 pieces. We made bowls, vases, drinking glasses, birds and a cat. My wife is still talking about it and how she wants to do it again.

Also one of the guys there is going to be on the new season on Blown Away on Netflix that starts this weekend.

Bumping this, we did this last night for our anniversary and it was so much fun. The instructors were great and as I said to my wife, they let you walk in off the street and play with 2000F glass. I can't wait to pick our stuff up this week.
