I'm completely fine with it and hope they keep escalating suspensions for these kinds of dangerous hits. I have no doubt that the injury added a game or two to this.

I don't understand the whole time in the game argument against Andersson. So Andersson needs to let up because the game is almost over and Flames aren't going too come back, but it's okay for Laine to keep trying for the goal under those same circumstances. I thought there would be a suspension but only 2 games. 4 seems harsh, especially so when you consider he has to miss the Heritage Classic. I hope the Flames appeal

Appeal would take longer than the suspension...Wideman won his but already missed more games. A neutral 3rd party ruled the Flames were indeed screwed.

No Anderson needs to not throw dirty hits at the end of the game when the Flames have lost and he played like garbage.

If it were a clean hit nobody would have an issue at all.

Of course Andersson is suspended for 4 games, so that he misses outdoor game against the league's darling

4 games seems excessive.
I 100% thought it deserved 2 games, but you see plays with very clear intent to injure receive lighter punishment.

The amount of games seems excessive for a first time offender. My guess is the league wants to go hard and punish to the extreme.

Add it to the list of reasons not to play here

Suspensions are costly to players...those extra games add up

Not likely. The next situation will probably be worse and only get a game or two.

That's about 2 games too many but the department of player safety is a fn joke anyhow. Hey, we need a head of player safety, let's give it to a former goon who has had so many head injuries his brain is a pile of mush!

Except they won't. The same type of hit will happen next week and there will be no discipline at all. We have seen it for years now.

Pretty sure they are taking into account that he didn't really miss anything in the game itself (tack on another game), it happened when the game was out of reach and caused an injury. I guarantee if Laine isn't hurt they probably only give 1 game.

It makes me wonder what a repeat offender would have gotten... 8 games?

It was dirty and dumb so 4 games doesn't bother me as much as the fact that similar or worse plays will not bring the same discipline. We all know that the jersey and name on the back are always factors in NHL discipline. It's a two game suspension for a lot of different players wearing different jerseys but the Flames are an easy team to make an example of. At the end of the day it's on Andersson to not put himself in a situation where the league can punish him.

I don't expect it to make a difference. Has Bettman ever reduced a suspension that was appealed?
