It also isn't a random city it is one of 31 cities in a league in which you know has trades.
He also negotiated the NTC so is well within his rights, I am saying for me I can't imagine wanting to stay in that situation.

But he negotiated a NTC, presumably because he did not want to be moved to some random city. Maybe he goes to them and lets them know that he and his family are willing to move to 3 or 4 cities. You then can negotiate with those cities and do a deal, maybe take 50% of the cap hit and throw in a 2025 1st to move him. I am assuming that there are options that Krug and the team could agree to if they want him out of there.

On your last contract it’s probably a combo of chance to win and money.
Move the family wherever the hell you want after you are done. These guys are travelling so much during the year they aren’t home anyway, I’ve never understood that from the NHL players over the past 15 years it’s became a thing, probably has something to do with parenting nowadays or entitlement.
|
But they will make their money either way so why move? He already went presumably where the money was highest, it is not like he will get more money by agreeing to a trade. If your family is happy where you are living and the money is locked in anyway, what is the incentive to move? It would be like if your employer came to you and said “we have to pay you for the next 4 years anyway, but we want you to move to Fort McMurray for the same salary. If you don’t take it we might buy you out for 67% of what we would owe you for the next 4 years and you can work anywhere or you might work in Calgary for the next 4 years for us. So do you want to move to Fort Mac?”

Yes which is why I said he was within his rights to do it.

For sure 100% agree and it’s in his and many other players contracts, good for them but it’s not correct in a business like this. My issue is the NMC or NTC shouldn’t even exist and it’s a part of the current problem in the NHL. It also disproportionately hurts the smaller market teams, we all get it Calgary and most other small market teams are on their lists because they all want to play in Florida or NY. These are professional “teams” and things change where you may not fit into the current style, culture or plan of a team. Maybe these should only be available to “franchise” players or maybe only 1 or 2 allowed per team max. There’s lots of professions where you can live wherever you want, professional sports with a 10-12 year career span isn’t one of em IMO.

Blues fans and Blues radio seem thrilled that Krug kyboshed this deal. Little interest in Hayes, and believe Sanheim is more of the same of what they already have - 2nd pair D
Blues radio goes on to say if you want D and you want a forward, Calgary is the team to be calling. Hanifin and either Toffoli or Backlund. They believe Hanifin is better than Sanheim, and either Calgary forward is coming off career years. They weren't making trade proposals, but suggested willingness to move out any futures asset other than Snuggerud or #10 overall.

Perunovich, Dean #25 and #29 for Hanafin (retained), and I'm happy.

50% per Pierre LeBrun.
Three years of retention for a 6th rounder. Seems like a bad deal for Philly.

I understand the logic here. They effectively buy the contract out without it affecting them for 6 years.

I think he, at one time, had a tweet that was this terrible forehead thing, except not on purpose. It went viral as he got flamed for his ineptitude, decided no press is bad press, and went with it.

At least it isn't boring.
I'm all for the dumb, distinctive stuff like this.
Life's bland enough.

I know Hayes is another lazy player but he still had 50 points last year and can do something well. I'm not sure that's worth a buyout. Now Philly gets 3.5 million to find a replacement and I can't see it being anything better. Seems fairly weak deal unless there are other issues.

I assume they wanted to get him out of the locker room as he's not a fit with Torts. Good for Hayes as well.
