Difference is those guys normally show up and score a hattrick without breaking a sweat.

I like Toffoli, but I'd be surprised to see him re-sign. He certainly sounds open to it...but does Toffoli fit age-wise going forward?

Thanks for the updates, guys. Very interesting for sure. I'd feel bad if we lose Backs and Lindy, but if they are done and want to go elsewhere, good luck.

Soooo, number one C next year...
The ghost of Nazem Kadri?
Ruzicka?
Zary?
Potentially over the hill Ryan O'Reilly? (has always felt destined to be a Flame)

Hard to get upset at them about that. As fans, we shouldn't be upset at the players. The organization needs to step it up because it has fallen behind significantly in this league as a desirable destination.

That is just incorrect, outside of arena stuff.
They did a lot last summer to try to bounce back from being left at the altar.
This is the deepest at center this team has been in decades.
Outside of arena issues, I think you're wrong. They tried, and tried hard. It just didn't work/backfired. But it wasn't for a lack of trying.
One could say they did too much, too soon with the signings and extensions.
I really dont' think you can fault Brad and co. for a lack of trying, here.

I think Lindholm knows his bag just went to Huby and Kadri last summer. He's been underpaid since signing his current deal so I'm sure he'll be looking to cash in next summer as a first-time UFA and with the cap going up.
As for Backlund, he's seen it all in Calgary, handled it like a pro, and obviously is open to a change of scenery.

Lots of "we'll see" in his replies
I think he was more positive in his delivery but I don't think he said a lot more than Lindholm ultimately.
But he's right. We'll see.

Yea, but should we resign him? He was great this year, certainly, but he'll be 32 when his next deal kicks in and we've already locked up two forwards on retirement contracts, we don't need anymore.
He's the perfect example of a player we can and should sell high on. No question he nets you a first and a middling prospect, or a solid prospect and a later pick. Now repeat that with Hanifin, Lindholm, and Backlund and all of a sudden you've restocked the cupboard with young players players on cheap deals, so the Huburdeau and Kadri contracts are less of an issue.

Lindy and Backs going out effectively shapes the Flames future. It's no longer about right now.
Kadri - Ruzicka - Rooney - ... Phillips?

These guys are just absolutely done with Sutter. It's the most telling with the players that have had to deal with him for the last 3 years.

Give Huby the "C".
He knows he had a bad season, but everything he is saying is about personal accountability and trying to navigate his own failures. Love Huby.

I am once again projecting again but Jonathan really seems like the type of person who is extremely self aware, probably to a fault sometimes. And when he gets in that head space could probably as Lanny said benefit from a little love.

They have done very little to cheer for in terms of the product that is on the ice.
Half of the teams in the league make the playoffs. More than half only a couple years ago.
And somebody like Backlund has missed the playoffs 9 times in his 14 seasons as a Flame.
Like, why would you want to be here? Time to go win or at the very least, enjoy better weather elsewhere.

Looking at the contracts that the Flames love to give players going into the wrong side of 30, I would want an extension from this club as well!

I'm not surprised with Backs and Lindholm, they want to win and all the feelings are still so fresh. It's all doom and gloom right now after such a disappointing season.
Let things settle a bit, have a good draft and try again next year.

I don't fault Brad. I think I'm the biggest proponent of bringing him back.
This is on Murray Edwards.
