If hockey reference is to be believed, Ritchie scored on a previous SO attempt for the Flames this year. I don't remember it.
In any case, there just aren't a lot of good options for this team.

Along with the absolute asshat of a coach that plays Nick "Meat Hands" Ritchie for a season ending shootout.

Truly awful, uninspired attempt. Looked emotionless after being stopped as well.
Avalanche Kadri is a way different player.

#### this coach and roster. I hope none of them come back next year,
Markstrom is a joke of the hockey world. You should switch your sporting career to swimming.

WTF is Sutter trying to effing prove? Ritchie in the shootout? Kadri? While Lindy sitting on the bench? Mang? Toffoli? All season long, I have not once calling for Sutter's head, but in do or die game, he pull something like that? JUST EFF OFF SUTTER!

You can't ignore that Fox wasn't going to sign. The Hurricanes traded him as well. Hamilton trade was a pretty good trade and Tkachuk wanted out.

Flames pushed hard, but it was another game where the other goalie was better than ours. Story of the season.
Kadri and Backlund shootout attempts were terrible. Just terrible with the season on the line. At least Ritchie forced a tough save.

I really have nothing nice to say. This team and Brent Sutters 09-10 team and Risebroughs 91-92 debacle as teams that really fell on their faces. Honorable mention to the 17-18 team too.

Nope. The Flames had a much, much better chance in a shootout than with an empty net. A man advantage hasn’t been much of an advantage for the Flames and having the playoff chances extinguished on an unnecessary empty netter would have been a disaster.

The most fitting end to this season!
Significantly outshoot and out-chance the other team but lose in extra time for the 17th time this season.
And to top it off, Sutter puts in his old vet fav Ritchie in the shootout who of course doesn't score and the Preds young stud does score on the next shot to keep the game going. While Pelletier watches from the pressbox.

That’s actually the opposite of bright. Those couple weeks of pretending worsened our draft pick. We’re literally in the worst spot. Again. How is that bright?

Writing was on the wall for months and the misery finally comes to an end. Here's to hoping for some big changes in the offseason. Starting with the dud of a GM and his 4 playoff appearances in 9 years. Maybe we can ship Kadri to Nashville for one of their severely overpriced vets. I have a feeling his pissy attitude and lack of effort were part of the problem for this team. And Jacob Markstrom is overrated.
