Oh wow, that's really insightful. Great point. If you show support for some of their positions people could really make some awful assumptions about how you may think WRT some of their more awful opinions/policies.

All in all I prefer the thread dedicated to Sliver.

I mean the problem with these discussions is that's how they go though. Like there's no nuance. I'd have a discussion like that in person over a beer because you could rationally have that conversation. In a forum like this though, nothing good is coming from it.

Spam posts without engaging in meaningful discussion.
People who follow other posters around and jump on them every single time they say something.

Yoho is 100% doing #1.
PepsiFree is 100% doing #2.

People just don't say anything about PF because he is on 'their' side.

But are happy to want to ban Yoho.

I find his posting style annoying as well. Ban worthy? Not so sure.
If we’re talking about living in one’s head rent free, jumping into a thread about a poster to bring up completely unprompted how a different poster you pretend to have on ignore is following you around HAS to be up there.

I dunno, there have been times I've posted something like "I can't believe I'm going to say this, but the UCP did a good thing" and I don't get roasted for supporting them. I've also said I don't want Trudeau to lead the Liberals, but I still voted for them, and didn't get pilfered.

I think NDP Pharmacare is pretty much a a requirement going forward, but I probably won't vote for them.

People pick single issues all the time here and discuss them. Now, if you say "look how great Pierre is!" and people retort with "well, actually" I think that's fine too. It's OK to be nuanced if you frame it properly.

Maybe there is a vBulletin method to prevent seeing quote tweets. Really ramp up that Ignore feature to be a true ignore.

And of course its on users to respect the Ignore.

If there is a feature like you mentioned, it's not likely to be a vBulletin feature but a mod & the more mods there are, the more issues they can cause the functionality of the forum & you also take a chance with the mod creator & possible malware bundled in. I assume there are trusted modders so that's less likely.

It's been a good number of years since I ran a vB forum but there used to be a couple of methods at an admin's disposal in how to handle truly problematic posters. Global ignore used to be called Tachy Goes To Coventry - the only people who see the posts of those on the list is the person added & mods/admins. For example, if you were added to global ignore, you'd be posting away as usual, you'd see your own posts, the admins/mods would see them, but no one else would. Your post wouldn't even show in the thread, so it's like you were never a member. The idea is that eventually, a user gets so frustrated/bored with never being responded to, they just leave the forum altogether.

I can't recall the name of it now & may even be misremembering the feature somewhat, but there also used to be a feature that, if a user was added to it, would turn their experience into torture basically - it would make the forum load very slowly, and if the forum finally loaded, it made trying to make a post a miserably slow experience as well - something along that line, anyway.

And the same braindead "This poster follows me around!" nonsense

This is such a small forum, people really think it's so weird that you're going to run into the same person from thread to thread? On a busy day there's like 5 active threads, you're going to see each other. Nobody is following people, anyone that says that needs to get over themselves

Strangely enough, the thread praising Sliver seems to be driving him nuts, while this thread slagging Yoho is probably giving them a half chub.

You're such a dink. I did that just to tell people hey I'm taking a break. Wasn't for attention or anything like that, obviously the attention whore in you can't possibly relate.

I will wait for CrazyBaconLegs to voice his opinion on both Yoho and Sliver and then I'll join in with blind aggreeance.

Well c’mon now don’t get your hackles up, go look at the thread. “Maybe I’ll be back when the Flames win the cup” isn’t “I’m taking a break”. You got dramatic and that’s ok, we love drama. Take your lumps cause that was a funny thread
