That's partly because intelligence is not additive, and the intelligence of a group trends towards matching the stupidest member.

One person can paint the Sistine Chapel or invent the Theory of Relativity.

A small group of people can create the Oxford English Dictionary or the U.S. Constitution.

Twenty thousand people can do the wave… if you're lucky.

Flames have not played in a few days and the D looked like they were still figuring out their positions in the few games they played so far.

Flames loss abound. Hope it lights their asses on fire

How does that imply a loss? Boys will be well rested and fired up.

You're both right, some things that were causes of concern in that series are exactly the same like Hanifin-Andersson, who based on ice time so far are still being used as our top pair. Markstrom's overall play and glove hand.

Then some parts of the team have changed in the Flames favor like the center depth. Healthy Tanev matched up against McDavid is the best chance to shut him down.

Ahh yes the “if I say anything critical about the flames I’m an oilers fan” line. If you look at my posting history I’ve never said one good thing about the Oilers. I just don’t think you get to trash talk another team when you stunk up against them. Maybe it’s just that I don’t care for crowing about a team who has time and time again failed to back it up in the playoffs. I agree that this team is better suited to handle big games and playoffs in general with the changes we made. I’m sick and tired of the if we played our game we’d have won whether that was Colorado, Dallas or Edmonton recently. Actions speak louder than words and that’s only ever going to be fixed by a deep playoff run and that starts with beating Edmonton at home and getting solidly in that number one division spot.

Flames’ Markstrom deserves shot at Battle of Alberta redemption

Jacob Markstrom can’t seem to stop the Edmonton Oilers.

Simply put, Markstrom needs to start proving to himself and others he can be successful against Edmonton.

The success of this franchise depends on it, as all roads to playoff success will undoubtedly go through the provincial capital.
Quote:
The scrutiny he’s faced stems, in part, from allowing the first shot on goal to beat him on three occasions already.

Gonna be at The Dome dressed as Captain Planet tonight! Made a sign with his slogan “Gonna take pollution down to zero” with the Oilers logo in the “o” of pollution. I predict a fun and hilarious evening ahead. GFG and E=NG!!

I too have never liked how the Flames play the Oilers but the worry in here is surprising. Did people forget the Flames already beat the Oilers once this season? If both teams bring their top games, Flames win.

the closet oiler fans here are hoping we forgot about that dominant performance (score flattered Edmonton heavily)

Should be another great battle. I didn't get to watch the pens game (other than the amazing first), but thought the flames transition d, and other details, were struggling a bit in the few games prior.

Oilers are a tough opponent given their big guns. However, a detailed, discipline game by the flames should equate to a W. This is a big game for Markstrom. His play in the second round has definitely created some doubt on whether he can get it done in the big moments. A win today could be a pivotal moment for him tonight.

All the Flames have to do is play with patience. Focus on the neutral zone, tight D and quick zone exits, the offense will come. The playoffs last year, was river hockey vs river hockey. Props to the Oilers I guess for getting the team to abandon the style of play that made them successful all year, but I don't feel this team will fall victim to playing into the Oilers style and trading chances.

If Flames put as much effort and detail in the game tonight as Cheese does in his GDT, Flames got this by a landslide!

It's that simple probably. Unfortunately the league will want the Oilers to win this one, so I'm expected at least a couple real doozies in the second and third periods.

Impossible to do when the officials are looking to call anything and everything to give McPowerplay the advantage. Bottom line is we're gonna need a strong PK tonight, and we'll have to destroy them 5 on 5, which shouldn't be difficult with their terrible D.

Our PP is almost as good as theirs, while they have one of the worst PKs in the league (currently 27th). So the Flames will need to make them pay on those rare opportunities where they actually get a call in their favor.
