Only was able watch parts of the first two periods and the 3rd, thought Mangiapane had a bit off an off night, also thought Zadarov wasn’t very good especially in the 3rd. Always seemed like a tire fire in the 3rd when Z was out there. All in all though a very good solid game for game 1, looking forward to see how this group moves forward as the year goes forward.

They let off the gas when it got to 5-1. Prior to that the were dominating the Avs.

Mang did look rusty. Turn over machine tonight.

Though Z looked great most of the game.

I’ll admit I was resigned to the season opener blues when the Avs scored on their first “shot”.

The boys were cool as cucumbers and battled. Very encouraging start to the season!

And Ritchie of all people scored the tying goal! That must've lifted the boys and believe they can do it.

Great game! Loved that second line especially. Having a player like Kadri up the middle is such a boost for this team. Slots Backlund as a 2b/3a center that can still play well against other teams’ top guys.

Huberdeau was making some nice plays out there too… that pass on the powerplay was sweet. Think he and his linemates have to adjust to each other a bit still. Huberdeau and Gaudreau are both amazing playmakers but they do have different styles. Huberdeau seems to draw guys into him and look to find his teammates in motion. Gaudreau, on the other hand, seemed to use his speed/quickness to create space for himself and find his teammates that way. I think Lindholm and Toffoli may need more movement in their game to find those open spots. They’ll adjust though. Both are smart players with a knack for scoring goals.
