Except they aren't skating right to left for anyone except for people right in the middle on that side of the rink. They certainly aren't skating on my radio dial.

It's just a repetitive verbal tic that I notice. It's not a big deal. It also used to take me out of the game when Maher said someone was "prancing out of the zone".

Which is where I (and I presume most people) imagine themselves to be when listening on the radio. And also happens to be where my actual seats are.

I imagine myself either in the game or the view I have with playing EA sports.

I'm not saying most people are bugged. I'm not even that fussed, and it never even affects the play calling after that. It just nudges me a bit when I hear it (which is rarely - I don't do the radio much).

It is too late to try and take a reasonable stance - you are dead to me

Well, I expect most fans are like me—limited to viewing Flames games exclusively on TV, and not in a position to attend any live. And for that reason, I suspect that the majority of radio listeners also imagine the game-view precisely as Wills describes it.

With all the Ignore Lists that you are on it is a wonder that anyone even talks to you.

Yup. I didn't listen to him in the later years, but when I used to regularly listen to games on the radio when I was a kid (when a lot of games weren't televised), he would always introduce the teams saying which direction they were skating and what colour uniforms they were wearing.

I specifically remember it because in the early years of the Saddledome, the tv cameras were on the other side of the ice, so the Flames skated left to right on tv. It always confused me when he'd introduce the games saying the Flames were skating right to left until I went to a game one time and someone pointed out where his broadcast booth was.

Maher used to say which team was defending the net on his ‘broadcast left’ and which was on his right. This makes more sense, as the players do not just skate in one direction.
