Yup, became King as soon as she passed. He still may change his name for coronation though.

I guess Charles is now officially the King. We'll see if he takes the crown or steps aside for William.
If he does take the crown, we'll also need to see what Regnal name he choses. As I understand it, he can use any of his given names: Charles, Philip, Arthur, or George.
King Arthur would be interesting, but unlikely.
I don't know if Philip II of Spain, husband of Queen Mary I counts as having been King of England. Otherwise, there has not been a King Philip in England/the UK. He could choose that to honour his father.
I believe Charles is considered a bit of a cursed Regnal name, which is why many expect him to not choose that. Although, I think many said the same about Elizabeth at one time.
George was the name his grandfather chose and seems the most-likely candidate if he doesn't use his given name.

Sad news. As anachronistic as the idea of having a monarchy is, she genuinely exercised her role as a public servant for such a long time. Hopefully the king can do even half as well.
Watching how the Republic to our south is trending, I'm coming around to the idea that there's something to be said for this whole constitutional monarchy thing.
