Not at this point, he would have signed already if anyone offered him anything close to 2.5-3M

Yeah, I think that's the contract he wanted and didn't see materialize

Gross, no thanks. Overrated and will cost way too much.

People I think forget how rental deadline acquisitions seldom pay off enough to justify the costs.
1.5 months isn't enough time for the vast majority of players moved to really gel with the receiving team enough to move move needle in a meaningful way.
At least it helps keep the parity because it's a free bundle of picks for the sellers that's often a large overpayment for a guy that is expiring.
I'd rather we make our "move" now and let the team solidify as a group over over whole year. Even if the name involved doesn't carry as much star power.

P. Kane at a retained cost would be anything but overrated, but again I'm just not a big fan of UFA rentals for an arm/leg.
Only pays off if you're the 1 of 16 that comes out on top.
Watching FLA empty their reserve of firsts for two months of Giroux/Chiarot makes my stomach turn.

Crash and Bang Winger

I'll preface this by saying I know nothing about Rodrigues, but having just watched all the goals he scored from the past season - he wasn't dependent on Crosby/Malkin in the least, in fact I don't know if I counted any goals that resulted from either of those two players being super involved. I'd also wager that he'd probably have the best one timer on the team if he signed.
He looks like an opportunistic, decently skilled winger who has above average finishing abilities and a great one timer. Can't comment on his play away from the puck. If they wanna bring him in for $1.5M, I don't see too many downsides to that.

I checked his scoring logs, and surprisingly Crosby only assisted on 2 of his 19 goals. Malkin only assisted on 1.
He definitely had a hot/cold season with 15 goals + 15 assists in his first 33 games, followed by 4 goals + 9 assists in his remaining 49 games.

92 pts last year Kane is definitely not overrated. That would be a massive add for the Flames. Kane can drive a line and what worries me about the Flames is they don't have enough guys like that. Hopefully Huberdeau and Kadri are the ones that will but adding Kane would be huge.

Exactly 2 wingers have higher ppg in the last 4 years: Kucherov and Panarin. And Kane has barely missed any games.
He's been ppg or better for 9 of the last 10 seasons.
He's not coming here, but he's still pretty pretty pretttttaaayyyyy good.

Highlights never tell the whole story, but I would be on board if the Flames signed him to a single year at <2 million. His one-timer would be the best on the team if we are going to believe those same highlights.

Kane is almost as bad defensively as Phil Kessel. Great scorer and it might not be an issue if the cost was lower, which it will not be. I also just don't think I want that guy on my team.

Lol, well if we get this guy. If he and Dube can get hot at different times of the season that'll work out. Dube is just as streaky.

The guy that has 3 cups and played an integral role in winning them.. you'd take a pass
If Patty Kane doesn't make the cut for some here then where is the bar?? And who on earth qualifies.

I can see taking a pass from the cabbie incident, maybe some of the rumours going around in the past. However, from a winning standpoint, you can't do much better than Patrick Kane. I don't like him either, but he is an absolute beast of a producer and line driver.

He won those Cups ages ago. He's just not that guy anymore, PP points be damned.
The Oilers can knock themselves out paying through the nose for that guy. They'd regret it.
He doesn't drive play these days in any sense of the word.

At his best, he is better than Johnny Gaudreau
Question is how much does he have left and is he still motivated

Points per 60 minutes played:
Andrew Mangiapane: 2.559
Tyler Toffoli: 2.472
Evan Rodrigues: 1.987
Dillon Dube: 1.893
Michael Stone: 1.875(!?)
Mikael Backlund: 1.667
Blake Coleman: 1.649
I would be curious to see if Rodrigues' points per 60 minute played decreased throughout the season. He produced more early in the season, but he also seemed to play more minutes during that time.
