I love Bo, but what? He tried his best to go south (as he should have) and didn't have a good enough showing to stick with anyone as he isn't strong on long throws which is death in hopes of becoming an NFL QB starting or otherwise.

Their average attendance will likely be in the 4-6k range out of 19289 seats, probably way better to just pick up cheap/free tickets that will definitely be available for the games you want to attend. Should easily be able to move down to good seats every game.

There's no black in any of the logos that were revealed, so I'd say it's a safe bet they'll be wearing the same colours as the Flames. They might have a different style of jersey, but I wouldn't be surprised if their uniforms look exactly like the Flames, just with the W instead of the C on the front.

I would be surprised. They'll be wearing different jerseys.

Fans would be more inclined to purchase a Wranglers jersey with unique striping/design cues over a merely re-crested NHL jersey. These are fans who probably already own a Flames sweater.
Interested in the secondary logo. I assume it will be a refresh of the lasso-ing cowboy on the horse from the original Wranglers, although it'd also be pretty cool to see a variation of the WHA Cowboys logo, which would neatly tie local history all together.
Since they already own the trademarks to the vintage logos, I assume they'll save them for other purposes (retro nights, etc.).

Allegedly he had a couple offers down there, I believe 1 was with the Vikings. But it would've been as a 3rd string QB, and he reportedly wouldn't accept anything beyond primary backup QB in the NFL. So he turned them down and stayed in Calgary.
Regarding the OP, I actually love the Wranglers name. Not loving the current logo though. They should've re-used the original Wranglers logo, I thought it was pretty slick actually.

So happy with this ... Wranglers were a pretty special part of my childhood before the Flames arrived.
Amazing how parenting has changed; I was allowed to get on a bus to a C-Train station, take the train down to the Stampede grounds, cross the roundup center and into the Corral watch a game, then train home ...

Because it's faux cowboy crap manufactured by Guy Weadick to make money.
Quote:
Ever since Guy Weadick, an American showman, founded the Stampede in 1912, this invented tradition keeps re-inventing itself.
Fueled by turn-of-the-century pulp fiction and live-action cowboy shows, the Stampede launched on a romantic notion about the closing of the Wild West and was embraced by an urban population unsure of their own future, most of whom had bet everything on their new city.
In the decade before 1912, the population of Calgary had grown from 5,000 to 70,000. These were city dwellers, and their relationship to rodeo and cowboy culture was largely limited to the city's annual cowboy party.
"The West was already over," says Prof. Rusted. "The majority of people in Calgary at that time didn't have any more connection to the old West than people do today."
The thing about the Stampede might be that it's the only collective yarn that seems to stick – just fake enough, just real enough, just goofy and interesting enough that it works for nearly anyone.
It can pretty much mean whatever you want, whether that's a symbol of colonialism and the "borrowing" of First Nations land that helped make Alberta rich, or a drunken, 10-day bender, or a world-class cross-cultural carnival founded on community spirit. It's curiously inclusive."

Free farm and ranch land is why this area was populated in the first place

Isn't the availability of agricultural land the reason why pretty much every permanent human settlement on earth was populated in the first place?

Sure but without the Dominion Lands Act the US likely stakes a claim around here first.
Farming and ranching is why there was a push to populate this area. I don't see why people think that needs to be shunned and ignored

haha nice try old man, but the C - train didn't run until you were 11.
although definitely your main premise still stands but may have involved an even shadier bus trip
I had the opportunity to shoot for a car (from the far blueline into one of those holes 2 pucks wide) as a 15 year old a few months away from getting my driver's licence- not even sure that made me eligible to play, but it was the 80s..one time when I was at a Wranglers game by myself (my buddies worked there and I would just go hang out). spoiler ...I did not win the car

I don't think anyone thinks that needs to be shunned and ignored. I think a lot of people think that this relatively small part of Calgary's history is terribly over-represented in the City's identity/narrative (at the expense of other important parts of the City's history).

Flames: Named after a 1864 civilian massacre and razing by Union troops in the Confederate state of Georgia.
Stampeders: Named after stampeding horses.
Cavalry FC: Also named after horses, but the military, non-stampeding kind.
Roughnecks: Named after blue collar oil industry workers.
Hitmen: The plural of Hitman, a popular local wrassler.
Wranglers: Dudes who wrassle steers and other critters.

I hope they post video of the auditions like they did for the original Scorch. That was an incredible video.
