Helm and Hagel are my guessing for the overtime winning goal.

As for if Florida should rebuild - not the same situation. They're on the up and up, and not moping around. They've built from young with legit centrepieces. They're not far off. Can't tell me anymore Tkachuk or Gaudreau are the centrepieces to lead a team to a championship, despite the points they put up. We know the playoffs is different.

Again what have the Panthers stars done in the playoffs? won one series win since 1996 for that franchise
"build through the draft" like its easy or something
Oilers had 4 first overalls, 3rd, 6th, 7th, and got swept by the Avs

Hate it when OTs end so quickly unless it's the Flames winning quickly.
Impressed with Colorado tonight - I was betting they'd come out flat after a long layoff after sweeping the Oilers but obviously they talked a lot about it and their players made sure to come out strong.

McDavid isn’t a defenseman.
He’s the game’s best player and it isn’t even remotely close.
He forced the game’s second best player (MacKinnon) into a defense-first role.
People will say whatever they will, and I hate the losers from Edmonton as much as anyone, but doesn’t change how ridiculously good McDavid is.
On Makar, he’s a great player, but it feels like he can be pressured in his end into errors/turnovers more than you would see out of HOF defenseman in their prime (for more recent comps say Lidstrom or Niedermayer). Again, I’m acknowledging he’s not yet in his prime, I’m saying he will likely improve. But where things stand RIGHT NOW, he has some real flaws in his own end game IMO, so he’s definitely not the NHL’s best player RIGHT NOW.

Makar and MacKinnon bested him in 4 games.
Who cares if MacKinnon had to play defense. It shows they learned from the Flames' stupid approach and executed the right strategy. And when they went head to head McDavid got owned handily, despite his little puck hogging d-splitting attempts that did nothing against a proper good team with a blue line.
Bagging 50 gimme automatic one timer assists from Leon per year and making 2-3 neat transitional plays per game doesn't make you the best in the game.

are you suggesting McDavid doesn't have any flaws in his game? maybe he should learn to play D too
if it truly wasn't even close McDavid would have won something in his life

Were Makar and MacKinnon better than McDavid in their series?
IMO, they were.

Tampa is just relying on Vasi to bail them out. Colorado looks like they're in another league.

Depends on how you define game's best player. He is great offensive player, I'll give him that, but "best player" IMHO, should be able to play 200 ft game.

It's funny you use the word "forced", MacKinnon able to play defense first game, and McDavid couldn't. This alone prove that McDavid isn't the game's best player.

Again, it's funny you have to specify the bold part. I mean, it's ok to admit you are their fan, don't have to pretend. Yes, McDavid is in offense, but not the game. Sidney Crosby on the other hand understand the game, and plays the game the correct way, he, not McDavid is the best player in the game.

Yeah, for me objectively neither of them were as good as McDavid… just not on his level. I think they all know it too. They were closer to Draisaitl. That said, the entirety of the Avs teams was FAR superior to the Oilers.
Hockey is still a team game. The Avs do have a really, really good team, maybe the best.
The Oilers are junk outside of maybe 4 players.

Whatever, go back and feel free to search my prior posts on McDavid. The Oilers had nothing but dumb luck to get him. He owes them nothing. I can’t stand that he signed the deal he did there, and I think he owes it to the league to GTFO the moment he gets his next chance.

I was glad to see that the AV’s were able to withstand Tampa toeing the game twice and then go on to win

The no question greatest player in hockey should have a win past the 2nd round in 7 years in the league IMO
Seems there is more to hockey than points
If I had the #1 pick in a redraft of the league I would pick Makar and wouldn't lose any sleep over it
