I see your point but can you imagine Gaudreau-Eichel-Lindholm? You never know with chemistry etc but to me that line has the potential to be the best line in the league for years.
Chucky’s contract situation is brutal. That’s a huge part of it that you can’t just ignore.
|
His contract situation is the only reason they’d consider it. If you’re bringing in Eichel I don’t know how you afford to roster a solid team with Johnny and Tkachuk extensions at $8-$9mil each.

Then it’s still a first rounder they can get.

Foligno got a first from Toronto and I bet they regret that payment. Taylor Hall only got a 2nd.
And Buffalo’s owner is cheap.

Weekes: Flames offering Tkachuk, 1st, former 1st, 2 prospects for Eichel
And Buffalo is asking for MORE than that? Jesus Christ this is Jack Eichel not prime Lemieux. Adams is insane.

Eichel is over-valued. He needs replacement surgery and the gamble is that he is the same player after. That's a silly gamble to make. Also, Tkachuk does a lot for the team that might not always be on the scoresheet. I think they would be foolish to trade him unless they just don't think they could resign him

He’s RFA after this year. He’s a great rental this season. The team trading for him isn’t obligated to give him a QO.

With Monahan showing signs of life, I think I could be okay with rolling the Purple Gatorade Line until Eichel can play.

I can understand not wanting to make this trade with this package, but what about Eichel don't you want? I think he'd be the best player to play for the Flames since Iginla.

Okay - so over the last 24 hours now we have seen two potential offers from each side come out.
Vegas:
Tuch
2022 1st
Krebs
Brisson
or
Tkachuk
2022 1st
Former 1st (My guess would be one of Valimaki, Zary, Pelletier)
2 Prospects
Flames would have the better players now (Tkachuk), Vegas probably the better futures.

If thats the offer I can see why its not done yet. I don't think Buffalo is interested in Tkachuk as the main piece (I know I wouldn't be). Strictly on a contractual basis.

I’m sure all of those have been talked about.
I’ll bet a lot the final deal looks nothing like that - regardless of team. Unless the others are Valimaki Gawdin and Philp or something.

No, they don’t have to give him a QO. Guess what happens then. The market for rentals isn’t what you think it is. A lot of good teams are too close to the cap to afford even a pro-rated $7M coming in.

I think I have to call BS on this rumor, that's just way to much and if it were true it would be done already. Why give up so much on a player like Eichel that's currently injured?

How so? Does that include Monahan too? Valimaki? Zary and Pelletier? They’ve been in a lot of the rumours.
