Ref standing right there thought it was a 2 min penalty...yes I think similar or worse will go unpunished. The guy wasn't even hurt he was up and punching Coleman in the face right after.

He got seven games.

I feel like everyone from Canadian teams get suspended for everything as there is so much more media attention.

Some guys on American squads seem to slip under the radar more often.

When I look at an offence I try to imagine if they did it to my best player. If someone hit Gaudreau like Coleman's hit I would want a suspension if I were a Flames supporter.

1 game is pretty fair. A fine wouldn't have been the end of the world though.

Maybe not the first week, but I've seen that exact hit go unpunished.

Not saying it isn't a dirty play; if someone hit Johnny like that we'd be outraged, but the DOPS is very inconsistent.

Should have been a one game suspension. The fact that the next game is a preseason game should not factor into it.

What if this happened in the 1st preseason game instead of the 7th? Would he have still received a two game suspension?

It's funny that people bring up "if that was Gaudreau"

Gaudreau got hurt from a slash in the hands last game...yet the story was and still is McDavid getting "tripped"

Yeah I can't imagine what would happen if someone hurt Gaudreau on a dirty play...oh yeah, nothing like last game

I will suggest that anyone who has been previously fined once and suspended once, both for punching unwilling opponents in the face like Lucic had been, would have been suspended.

Repeat offenders usually gets suspended.

I can't wait to watch the first night of games next week and see how many suspensions come up from hits from behind. Probably the same amount as last season, zero.

Welcome to the Calgary Flames, Blake. Where you will get judged by the league a lot more harshly than you would on almost any other team.

I'm just going to throw this out there, Coleman was suspended for boarding, not for a hit from behind. So let's keep things apples to apples and oranges to oranges.

i realize what the suspension was for, but hitting from behind is 10 times worse than what was called last night. If that is what the league is deciding what is suspendable then there should be about 5 suspensions per game this season for hitting from behind/boarding.

Yeah, this was my prediction for a punishment. I’d say it’s really one game, but it would have been have one more look at where BC slots.
