So the Canes beat writer says she was told there was no side deal involved in the Geekie selection. Shocker!

Keep in mind that based on the 29 known selections, they have $27.5 million in cap space with 6 RFAs (True, Twarynski, Lind, Borgen, C. Fleury, Dunn) and 2 UFAs (Quenneville, Bayreuther) and noting not all of the those 8 will count toward the team's cap hit.

Plus 5+ side deals to come.

They have extreme financial flexibility here, especially with a flat cap environment.

All but Detroit so far I believe.

Currently @ 56.4 million cap but I didn't include the UFA or RFA signings because they aren't official yet.

15 forwards
11 defense
3 goalies
18/20 contracts

RFAs - Lind, Dunn, True, Twarynski, C. Fleury, Borgen
UFAs - Driedger, Larsson, Oleksiak, Bayreuther, Quennville

I don't get the Bayreuther and Quennville picks like at all.

..

They Vegas started off strong through October and everybody was saying "Vegas is going to come back down to earth". But no, they proved themselves.

How similar will this play out for the Kraken?

Does that cap hit assume a 29 man roster? Because obviously that's not happening.

The Detroit player must be off the grid or left his cell phone uncharged last night.

Does the fact that Detroit's selection remains secret mean that Yzerman's wrath/aura/steely eye stare stops leaks? Which means the other 30 managers either can't shut their mouths or don't have control over their minions?

No worries. sureLoss does all the work. I didn't expect to wake up to 20+ leaks already out though.

So looking at that list and not knowing what any trades are here is a question:

Who got burned?

CGY - lost their Cptn, #1 d-man
NYI - lost their top RW? (Barzel will make the next guy in that spot better.)
Oil - lost their #1 d-man
Pit - lost gritty forward?
PHA, STL, NSH - no relief from bad deals?

Right now the Alberta teams get burned the worst because they lost top 4 Dmen to a division rival

But I’d wait to see the trades to see if anyone REALLY got burned. There’s a big gap between losing a 40 year old and losing a Shea Theodore

One step further: his wrath / aura / steely eye stare caused Francis to wilt in terror and surrender Seattle's selection. No Red Wings player will be taken. Yzerman will instead have his own selection from among all 29 other players selected by Seattle.
