Brad has made a past time out of trading down for seconds so wouldn't be shocked. Its a weird draft year anyway.

Forgot about Seattle. That's too bad. Really hoping for a Top 5 pick this season.

How many more games do we have left against the Sens.. At least that is one team that can easily kick the Flames butts.

Send them to the military for the offseason.

They can play for around half a game and then look bagged from there on in. I'm not surprised conditioning is an issue. Has looked that way almost all season. (Either that or they're having Fortnite tourneys every night until 5 am.)

/QUOTE]

How has this team this season, or any season in the last 6 shown you they’re deserving of getting another shot without wholesale changes? I’m honestly blown away to think there are still people that think they deserve another shot. Even in the season they won the West, the cowered in playoffs.
They haven't. Totally agree that they have underachieved and are not a Cup contending team.

What I'm saying is:

(A) That you need depth to win in this league. I think the team needs to try to add top-end talent to some of the pieces they currently have. Who remains, I don't know. But gutting multiple pieces for the sake of change will not be productive, IMO, especially considering the overall team-play has continued to improve under Sutter. (Wins don't matter right now--they're not making the playoffs. Commitment to structure and team play do. Sutter is clearly building this.)

(B) That I am unconvinced that the deadline trade market will provide substantial return for the assets we (on CP) are considering moving, particularly Gaudreau, Monahan, Bennett or even Tkachuk. I think the Flames are in a self-inflicted "sell-low" situation right now; trading multiple pieces from this position will only gut the team further.

[(C) For the record, I also don't think trading the farm for Eichel is a good idea.]

The "blow it up / trade 'X' player" posts going around on CP lately are wishful thinking. I don't believe the situation to be as cut-and-dried as others do right now. There are many good pieces on this team still; I am hopeful that Treliving will wait until the offseason to consider change and, when doing so, will use a scalpel rather than a scythe.

Anywhere in the top 10 picks in this draft is great. IMO you're getting some sweet options to choose from if you're picking 6th to 8th.

I really like about 3 d men and 4 centers. I suspect the d men take 4 of the top 5 slots this year. William Eklund being the FW that breaks the D man run.

That's my bold prediction.

Those 3 are really bringing it this year.
I can't wait for Gaudreau to go Marc Savard on our asses after he leaves.

After all these years his best winger on his line was Ferland. Maybe Lindholm but he completely disappeared in the playoffs.

Have to listen later, but thanks.

I will say this about Hartley. His team was well conditioned and had many third period comebacks

Even if Tre has smarter ideas about what a good coach was, smart people look at other peoples’ ways of going about things, and take the things that work

9.79 High Danger Corsi against per 60 in the same time frame which is the 10th fewest.

So they aren’t giving up high danger chances are more frequency, just aren’t getting a big save.

He wanted a NMC. With the expansion draft coming up they were unwilling to do it and would have most likely lost Demko. Had there been no expansion draft they definitely would have re-signed him.

Sell like there's no tomorrow. Trade all draft picks for 2023 picks. Tank until then.
Its time to truly start from scratch.

Quite amazing to watch them lose now. It’s becoming freudian.

I think they will finish last in the north and bottom 5 in the league.

Quite amazing. I honestly figured they would have a shot at first in the division when the season started. I’ve never seen a team like this implode as badly as they have. It’s what keeps me coming back!

How will they lose it this time. Cliffhanger every couple of days.

Going to focus on these two for a second.

Two things:

1) Stop playing them with Ritchie

Gaudreau and Monahan with Ritchie:

xGF: 45.2%
GF: 0
GA: 5

Gaudreau and Monahan without Ritchie:

xGF%: 52.5%
GF: 15
GA: 7

So it was a fun or two game thing but the fact it’s gone on this long is ridiculous and he’s an anchor bringing that line down.

2) They aren’t a 200ft shutdown line, stop trying to make them that.

Under Sutter the Gaudreau-Monahan-Ritchie line has the lowest offensive zone start percentage. Starting these guys in our own end is asking for trouble, especially when paired with Richie who is a questionable NHLer at this point.

The last 10 minutes of games have killed them outside of one game against the Senators after they took the second to rest.

There's no question conditioning is an issue.

Hell, maybe that factors into the no ENs too.

Is Johnny still eating candy and no veggies? By your mid to late twenties your body doesn't respond well to that kind of diet nearly as well as it did as a teen.

At some point the blame has to be put on the player himself.

I really really want the centre in this draft Bernie or whatever. He will be a mix between drasatil and horvath and that works for a start. We aren't restarting with nothing .

I'm really drunk
