In 40 years...

We've made the playoffs 24 times.
Made it out of the first round 8 times.

We've won six division titles, two Presidents' trophies, three conference titles and one championship.

"Six to eight years without a playoff appearance" is literally right smack in the middle of our strike zone.

Gotta wonder if Tre let 13 and 23 negotiate some kind of a linemate clause in their contracts, with a nondisclosure clause on top !

Maybe worth starting a rumour

Then sit him. His numbers and trade value are plummeting by the game. It's not like he's positively contributing to the on-ice product in a meaningful way, nor are the Flames in a legitimate race.

Anyone 'playing through' something should be sat in favor of young guys to get a better look at them. Getting a look at some younger roster potentials would be one of the few positives to come out of the remaining stretch IMO.

Perpetually getting bounced in the first round when we make it once every three seasons is no worse than missing for a stretch.

This is a total garbage existence for a hockey team.

Tkachuk hasn't been the same after the puck flip tot he face incident. If that is the case it is a very selfish thing to do when your getting paid better than anyone else on the team.

Team sucks, keep losing losers. As the losses pile up we inch closer to a top 5 pick and the firing of a highly overrated gm.
Agree - like push the puck, what...one foot and it's out?

Oh boy that’s likely to have us play five maybe six fewer games every couple of years. I don’t know if the fanbase can weather that.

Kent Johnson is a player I am starting to get excited about. He gets Matt Barzal comparisons. Scored 101 points in 52 games in the BCHL as a 17 year old and actually had a better point per game pace than Beniers at the University of Michigan this season. He's got a ton of skill and creativity. 6'1" and still needs to fill out (only 168 lbs).

I'm trying to get excited about adding some talent and there is definitely some available where the Flames are looking to pick (plus a bunch of other high end D).
If we tank hard, we would have a shot at RW Dylan Guenther. 20pts in 11g. He's a player to get excited about. 6'2", great skater.

Careful what you wish for, you might end up with basically the exact same result!

We hit a couple dusters, time to liquidate the numbered company and start fresh somewhere else.

Rebuilding isn't so bad, at least there is hope for the future in that case, this treading water stuff is far more painful. Endure 3-5 years of crap before any rebound and hope the magic beans turn into something this time.

I just can't buy into this theory. Tkachuk grew up in a hockey family. He's a pro. The incident with Muzzin is long forgotten.

Isn’t it 20 points in 11 games?

Tkachuk sure gets a lot of rope based on his family name

I feel like people would be a lot more concerned about him if his surname was different

I was going to say that as well. If 11pts in 20 games, I’d say hell no on a first round early pick. Unless he was a goalie. 😂

Amazed Darryl didn’t lose it when Francis asked if the Flames were an NHL team.

I wonder if that didn't ultimately result in a bit of a rift on the team. Some of these guys finally had enough of his antics and he's lost himself a bit.

Something is really wrong with this group. There is no natural cohesiveness about them. They seem as indifferent to losing as a lot of the fans have become.

Interesting choice of words in his response

He said have to be able to play at a pace, and then basically said some of their players have difficulty executing at that pace

Seemed like he had some players in mind

I make no excuses for his play this season. Not. Good.
I'm just saying he has grown up in the game. He gets it. There is no way that he is still sulking over this nothing burger of a puck flip incident.
