Oh I know. It is just sad because we had a lot more young talent in the system then. Gaudreau, Monahan and Brodie. We have nothing like that now in terms of young players.

Especially once they get their bump from having the pressure off they're going to go on a hot run that will do nothing for them but ruin their drafting posittion.

We need to acquire a first round pick from whichever team gets Hall from the Sabres.

'kay, I'm going to be that guy...
Ward did a better job with this group than Sutter has. Legendary coach my ass.

Yes. Team needs to score. But the goalie was not good enough
Markstrom was fine for half of the first, awful on the whole
So many rebounds out to the slot. ~17:26 left in the third, weak rebound to the Oiler in the slot. Terrible puck handling error at 6 min left. Team was lucky they didn’t cost them
Goal shot - right through him
Second best goalie on the ice

Depends on how many more games we have left against Ottawa, since they're all automatic 4 points each for the Sens.

They just showed the McDavid winning goal again on sportsnet. Even Connor looked shocked that it went in.

Exactly, as long as it’s a one goal game, the mere fact the oilers have McDavid and Draisatl; they will always make a difference. Plus, the sad thing is Smith is playing decent this year and Nurse has been playing like a number 1 dman. So, they have three players (nurse, Draisatl and McDavid) playing better than any Flames player.

I disagree. Noah Hanifin has taken a big step forward. I think we won the Lucic/Neal trade.
Other than that though? Yeah I got nothing.

That’s fair. The Tanifin pairing has been as good as we could have ever hoped.

After they got down in the third the Flames just dumped it in repeatedly and the Oilers casually cleared it out. Dump. Clear. Dump. Clear.
Flames with no forecheck pressure at all. Bunch of wimps and losers.
It was nice of the Oilers announcer to continually remind us that the Flames needed a win to keep the season alive. Very helpful and uplifting.

I wonder how our scouts are able to analyze players this year, without being able to attend any games (I'm guessing)?

I said it a thousand times when people were railing on Ward and Peters: it’s the players. They aren’t good enough. Coaching can’t fix this team. It’s not a coincidence that this core has had 5 coaches and largely the same results. The players are duds.
It’s not the coaching.

Let's take away Markstrom's god-tier goaltending early in the season, and Rittich's heroics in that 2 game mini series against the Leafs, and let's see how many wins the Flames have under Ward.
Even with the recent struggles, I'll take how the team has been playing under Sutter over how they played under Ward, every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Bright spots have been Lucic, Hanifin, and Tanev. They’ve been great and deserve credit.
Rest of the team: pretty damn disappointing.

Only Edmonton can do that.
Our luck is that the our rivals suck their way to the best player on the planet.
And they lucked their way into that position because the League changed the rules to stop them ruining the best prospects.
Now we are in a situation where we are on a trajectory towards rock bottom instead of just missing that playoffs because we have nothing to trade our way out of this mess.
And when we hit rock bottom, we won’t be able to draft our way out of it.
Because Edmonton.

I think you just want you pre game rant to be right
Rittich doesn't save either of the first two...does he save the 3rd one? maybe...he let in a worse one last game. Does he make all the saves in the first? who knows.
Calgary didn't finish their chances
at best Rittich takes the game to OT but that is a maybe

Drais**tl is the toughest guy in the NHL.... when three refs are in the way. Guy is a d-bag start to finish.
