Passes on the mark tonight please. That was half of what went wrong last game. That's 100% a focus issue. Sniff your salts, snort your snow, play your Katy Perry warmup jam. Do whatever you need to do.
Gfg!

I say this every year, but the how good a team is at their best is not an indicator of how good they are.
Ottawa is likely the worst team in the league and they hung 40 some shots the other night on Edmonton and beat Montreal. Vancouver got walloped in every category but Montreal, but Ottawa beat them and deserved it.
A team is a sum of the play in a bunch of games. I don't think it's effort for the Flames. You don't make the nhl generally unless you can bring that. Gio isn't known for taking it easy. I think it's confidence which leads to momentum. It's finicky, so you need to be able to have systems to show the bleeding when you're not feeling confident. Flames don't have that.
Watch the opposing forwards gain the zone against Calgary. The D backs right up scared of being beat, only to allow the opposition to set up and keep pressure
Agree 100%.
I don't think it's effort.
I think it's mental strength ... something this group has never had a huge sampling of.
Did find some of those videos interesting today ... Tanev just standing in the corner was odd. If that's coaching ... fix it. If that's mentally checking out and not doing what you're supposed to ... fix it.
But honestly I expected the Canucks to come out white hot in the first period on Saturday. It was the turnovers in the second that really pissed me off. Turnovers aren't a lack of hard work. It's mental toughness.

Im tired of almost throwing my remote at the TV. It gets frustrating watching a bunch over paid athletes who don't have the mental capacity to play 60 minutes.

One hundred percent. Do the Flames even employ a sports psychologist?

Lol I just want Torts at the helm for the locker room stormings, the YouTube 'Torts vs ref' memes, the 'Torts vs Eric Francis' moments and of course you can't miss out on the Torts vs player on opposing team shenanigans.
I actually dunno about his true 'systems' or not. I'm pretty sure it revolves around 'playing hard' and 'blocking shots'?
But yes, he'd whip this team into shape too. That would be nice.

Torts’ defensive system is a collapsing one, which posters here say they hate.
It’s funny, I have noticed some of these things along the way, you definitely see the three forwards going strong side, and often stationary wingers, neutral zone or Tkachuk stationed at far blue line. Wingers skating into outnumbered situations.
I hadn’t gone back and watched to look at overall positioning and to notice particularly how often the weak side D add no option and hamstring the breakout.
Also Toronto was absolutely flying in the example he used for them.
I expect the Flames to have fixed everything and come out flying! 7-1 Flames
