If he has 3 children including a newborn, then people shouldn’t underestimate the strain it must cause his wife. Reasonable move imo.

Was not aware he had a newborn at home and im sure this was a huge part of the decision. Mama may be struggling so it makes all kinds of sense.

Rather strange sequence of events. I hope everything is alright with his family.

The Bruins and all his teammates are going to say the right things and show their support obviously, but there has to be Atleast a few of them that this doesn't sit right with. Everyone's situation is different of course but there is probably Atleast a couple players in the same situation who are staying to play

I have made a similar decision. To the detriment of my professional team and my career, in the past.

I support his decision, even if I think it is not going to go well in the future for him.

While I'm sure this will not sit well with some players in the locker room as well as management, we are in unprecedented times and I believe family should always come first regardless of what's on the line for the hockey team. I do wonder if his name comes up in the offseason as on the trading block.

Don Sweeney just indicated there are things the team is aware of that "we" aren't and they totally support Tukka. I hope everything is well.

I absolutely respect and support his decision - family is always #1

But I also predict he will not be a Bruin next season

It’s a loss for the bruins, but family always comes first. All the best to Tuuka!

Bruins have a very capable 1B in Halak though, who will step in now.

At least the NHL officiating is consistently bad across the board

I just turned the game on and was like, "where's Rask?"

That's nuts. If it really is something we don't know about, some health issue with a family member or some other extenuating circumstance, that's one thing. But NBC is reporting it like he just didn't want to be there anymore. In which case... that's just not forgivable if you're the Bruins.

After entering the bubble this should be a bit of a surprise and he should be questioned on it to a certain degree... this is of course assuming everyone in his family is safe and healthy. Why go into the bubble if you never had the right mindset to begin with? It sounds like his mindset was off from the start.

I get he has a newborn but he knew that going in.

To me it seems like there may have been some internal issues with what he said after game 2 and management told him to just go home.

Maybe there were discussions with the team and he had told them he wasn’t really feeling leaving his new born and the team talked him into it.

As Sweeney mentioned there are some pieces of information the public are not aware of that the organization doesn’t want to share.

Rask tried to go, and sadly it didn’t work out. You have no idea how you or your family are going to react from a mental health perspective to being locked in a bubble away from your young family until you actually do it.

I mean I'm glad that this is the case but...

https://twitter.com/user/status/1294646485427027968

He just quit on the team. Not even Chayka-quit; at least there, there was a story behind it. Rask just up and quit.

Yeah if that’s the case, I just wouldn’t have gone. They had a large window to plan for that, with a decent backup on the roster and the ability to bring an additional goalie along. I understand there was pressure on players to go, but lots opted out (less than I thought, but still).

I just find it surprising with how tight that core is and how professional they have always seemed. I’ll never forget Bergeron, Chara, and Rask all encouraging Iggy to keep skating around the dome.

But just as during the opt out period, we don’t know the circumstances.

I’m surprised people are speculating what is and isn’t going on.
Can we just be comfortable with the fact we don’t know and not judge him?

Rask makes $7mil a year. I'm sure his wife doesn't have it too hard with the nannies and house cleaners and not ever having to work, etc.
