Good signing though for the Jays on getting Burnett...I wish the Mets would have got him.

And some of you thought Ryan was overpaid. Good job getting Burnett but he is very overpaid for what he brings to the table.

I think Burnett is less of a risk than Ryan.
I really just don't like paying huge money for closers.

Burnett has sick stuff 98 mph fastball, the guy has the stuff to be an elite pitcher in this league. Defintley worth the money the Jays threw at him.
Jays now solidify there bullpen with Bj Ryan who has a lot more going for him to have another good year then flopping like every FA brought to the Mets the last decade. Now have a great rotation, Jp is really working in the right direction.

Surprised that Burnett went with the Jays. I realise that he got more years and money but I thought that playing with a contender and one of the best teams in baseball that you grew up a fan of would have had him sign with the Cards. He would have left 15 million on the table but still made 40 million.

Glad to hear the Mench talk is done, I still think the Jays are gonna end up adding Overbay. Piazza for the right amount of $$$ would be great.
Talk today about the Jays going after Reggie Sanders, Frank Thomas or Nomar Garciaparra.

I agree on passing on Piazza since he's probablly gonna be calling for a lot off $$$. As for Frank Thomas, if the Jays can add some proven offense then why not take a chance on this guy? The contract is gonna be small and he defintley has potential to hit for power. As a solution to the Jays offense, hell no, but if you can add him along with a few other proven players I'm all for it.

Thomas is a goof, poison in the room. Pass on him. Had a nice chat with one of the relievers for Salt Lake a few years back at a Cannons game. It was back when Alberte Belle was there and getting flack for generally being a dick.
This guy told me Belle was great, his teammates loved him. Thomas on the other hand, sounded a lot like Bonds in San Fran. Did very little with the team, wouldn't even address you if you were a rookie. Total ass.

Here's some interesting tidbits on whom the Blue Jays may have some interest. Some names they are dangling include: David Bush, David Purcey, Batista, amoung others. I read that they only have about $5 million more to add in salary so they're going to have to trade some players. If only they could get someone to take Hinske.

Nomaaa?
I just don't know how we could fit him in at 3rd base. I'd rather have Koskie for his defense.

Nomar ... I dunno. Very injury prone the past few years if I remember right.
Always had a soft spot for Johnson, glad to see he'll be returning.

Nomar looks like he's out for a contract similar to his last one with the cubs that had him made 8 million. Injury prone? Defintley, so is he really worth that much? He does have going for him that he can play almost every position on the field and when he's healthy he can put up some damn good numbers.
